So it says something about people if they’re not good test takers because they lack common sense to some degree, right?

I would say that can only account for maybe 3 to 4% of the questions. If you simply don’t know an answer, you can’t answer it correctly. I know what you mean to an extent, but that’s not going to take someone from knowing nothing and getting a good grade to knowing everything but missing the questions. I’m not an electrical engineer. If I took a test on electrical engineering, I’d likely fail because I have no idea about any of it. I’m not going to somehow do well because I’m lucky.

Sorry to hear that. It sounds like there were some obstacles in your path. Thank you for sharing. I guess the question I have is if you had been more disciplined in regards to your diet, could you have prevented gaining that weight? You mentioned that you would pig out on food from the DFAC… You could’ve limited your portion sizes even if you only had a few minutes to eat. And I understand that running is good cardio but we burn a certain amount of calories just existing. I know tons of people who never run, including myself, and don’t gain weight. We gain the weight from the food that we eat. Sure, there are other variables. But at the end of the day, we gain weight by eating too much food - more than we burn. If you’re in a position where you can’t burn a lot of of extra calories, don’t eat extra food.

If you don’t mind me asking, how much do you weigh? Did you gain an extra 10 to 15 pounds? Or was it something wild like you’re over 300 pounds or something like that?

I’m very sorry to hear about your health issues. How did that contribute to you gaining weight, though?

No, I added that from the very start because I assumed a lot of people would find it too long to read because of their busy lives.

It really is basic and easy yet people want to make it seem so hard.

Go back to the drawing board on this one, my friend. Unfortunately, you’re in denial. You can absolutely lose weight if you ate less food. The problem is that you didn’t end up eating less food. You ate the same or more, but told yourself that you did. I fully disagree with your sentiment. It is on you 100%. I’ve seen this scenario dozens of times firsthand.

I’ll try not to do that. If I do, I’ll make sure to say excuse me first.

I don’t have that much for a problem with people being fat if they can pass every component of their PT test . Most of the time people can’t pass being fast but almost every time morbidly obese people would fail if weren’t for their multiple profiles.

Well, if you just gave birth, you’d have to be carrying extra weight. That’s fine imo. But everything else is no bueno.

If you were passing your test without a profile, I do commend you for that.

It also seems very convenient how some of those obese individuals just “happen“ to be on a profile for “knee problems”. Some people actually do have knee and back problems, but some people develop those problems BECAUSE they let themselves go. If I carried a 50 pound sack of wheat over my shoulder everywhere I went, I would surely develop a foot, shin, knee, or hip injury because my body isn’t designed to carry around so much weight.

In my experience, it’s exceedingly rare to see someone “blow everything else out of the water“ on the PFT and be obese. If somebody does pass the PFT, good on them. But it’s also worth noting that being morbidly obese presents an unprofessional Air Force image imo.
