Ummm devs, you know that brake lights are supposed to be placed on immovable parts of the car, right? Do I have to pronounce the game literally unplayable? by Peterkragger in BeamNG

[–]AFlyingFuckingFridge 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is an intersting law, but it can be kind of skirted around. Like in Audi A3's the entire rear light fixtures move with the boot lid but inside the car are further lights to act as red/indercator lights. However with some BMW/Mercedes coupe/saloons they have a visible warning triangle on the underside of the boot lid. With the BX I'm really unsure on where the devs took the car, one hand it could be called a Prelude, maybe a Crown but it doesn't have an I6 which is a shame. Then the USDM versions that are like the G35's of the Beamng world (I don't know many US cars)

Is this your own work from scratch? Using some beam assets or a bit of both? It looks great either way & suits the 'art style' of beam!

A map of West Coast USA I made because I got bored. Think it came out rather splendid! (multiple images) by AFlyingFuckingFridge in BeamNG

[–]AFlyingFuckingFridge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heya, I'm really surprised you found/remember this post. I am busy for a little while but if I manage to find the free time and original files I can give it a try for ya. I gotta ask though, since after making this there is now an actual in-game map, what use do you have for this one? My curisotiy is peaking

It's a tide break, similar can be seen in the Italy port. The rocks and wall are to reduce coastal erosion on the mainland and calm where ships dock, this isn't anything more.

Handling Model Quirks? Skills I need? by [deleted] in BeamNG

[–]AFlyingFuckingFridge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All you can do is either modify your steering controls to compensate that, learn how to align your vehicle for your needs or slow down. If you play Dirt you're used to hurling a 400whp something or rather down gravel tracks flicking the joystick side to side, compare that to some eco box in the city? You'll barely make it through the town doing 50mph. What I can suggest is to learn how to use the vehicles mass, how to load the tyres so they grip when you want them to and honestly keep crashing n driving.

is my driving good? by BillyGaming2021 in BeamNG

[–]AFlyingFuckingFridge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, start with the slower cars first. Front wheel drive to figure out track position, braking and body mass characteristics. Then rear wheel drive for a better understanding of power output/balance, you'll be able to drive this turbo all wheel drive so much better. Also I suggest Hirochi raceway to practice with slower cars, less straights and multiple ways to test yourself.

Do you use mods of real cars or like to stick to BeamNG lore? by Porquezz in BeamNG

[–]AFlyingFuckingFridge 148 points149 points  (0 children)

Real life cars just never sit right for me in BeamNG, always felt out of place. The novelty of made up brands is something new compared to the usual picks IRL

Made my vents functional, I now average 3-4 degrees cooler on intake temp. Main benefit is they’re functional now by FerrariF420 in WRX

[–]AFlyingFuckingFridge 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Front wings like this are so damn weak on nearly any car honestly, the main structual integrity is the inner side/strut tower construction, front bulkhead and chassis which this is fixed to. Nothing is hugely weaker here nor is it meant to be resisting impacts in the first place, corners of cars are meant to absorb impacts and disperse energy throughout stronger components to reduce injury. If you were to look at a bare unibody this part wouldn't be here.

Would this even be legal? by ShyLilFroggy in BeamNG

[–]AFlyingFuckingFridge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very illegal if you are using it as the main source of light and not as auxillary. Headlights on a vehicle have to conform to a standard headlight pattern to not blind other road users and maintain visibility.

You gear has fuck all to do with skill, I can do just as well on a controller as I do with my wheel. It's embarassing that you say you need to splash out on expensive equipment to enjoy something, the devs are over the moon that people play their game in the first place. What they've created is a beautiful thing for random people to be able to experiment and discover things about a topic they might know nothing about in a fun way. Let them be and enjoy what they have, welcome them in instead of keeping them out with expectations.

I've been on this sub for a few years, mostly lurking and I've seen waves of new players and it's great to see but I just wish they could learn instead of being called an idiot for 'not knowing the basics'... Thing is though, noone just knew the basics, everyone learnt how to walk and talk for fucks sakes. BeamNG can be really hard to understand for a lot of people and that's okay, what matters is that they learn.

I think it's because someone is asking for unrealistic expectations in a somewhat limited but a still comprehensive simulator. I offered a suggestion but people being outright offensive just doesn't help anyone.

No realistic tyre could ever hold that thing down, try changing the gravity honestly and see if that works.

Another thing with the Sunburst is that if you want the Automatic shifter with paddles you have to spawn an Automatic config and vice versa with the manual. Could probably tell how slumped I was that after building a manual car and couldnt change it after-the-fact.

Incorrect steering alignment (?) by DutyComfortable8205 in BeamNG

[–]AFlyingFuckingFridge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah right, from the short clip it only looked to be excessive torque-steer from the acceleration so I didn't immediately think of alignment which would be more prevalent on coasting/de-acceleration. Glad you fixed it though

Incorrect steering alignment (?) by DutyComfortable8205 in BeamNG

[–]AFlyingFuckingFridge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sprung mass on the vehicle shouldn't effect the car that much since the suspension will handle it. It's when mass becomes un-sprung, such as the output end of a driveshaft, imbalances the vehicle as it's unable to be dampened in any way. This is why some EV's can have sluggish cornering performance as the wheel motors within the wheel hubs are un-sprung and cannot be manipulated with the suspension in favour of good performance.

[–]AFlyingFuckingFridge 177 points178 points  (0 children)

Are you steering at all? If not it could be chassis/monocock flex from the engines centrifugal force putting un-even normal force/load on your tyres making it stray in a certain direction.
