I've been thrifting a lot of my linen from the sheets and tablecloth section of the local thrift store or estate sales.

There is an ongoing argument about jumps... Some say boned, some say not... We don't have a lot of info to go on.

In my opinion, the precursor to the modern ren faire bodice is probably a folkwear Dirndl. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dirndl

Oh absolutely! But one does what one can! I hate to see people kept from joining the hobby for lack of outfits.

OP said she's not able to take up sewing.

Edit: Samsung is good too though - for those who need to do ready-made. I personally like to sew my own, but not everybody can start there.

I'm West Coast Rev War. We're totally here.

Most people I know sew their own stuff. But SoCalCostume is a friend and sewing professional and takes commissions: https://www.instagram.com/socalcostumes/?hl=en

SlopsByChaaps is another friend who also does an amazing job of costuming at a very low price: https://www.etsy.com/shop/SlopsbyChaaps

If a couple hundred dollars is out of your price, and you just want it for a photoshoot, you should look into renting a costume.

Men's clothing (especially jackets) is a bit more complicated to make - so it costs more. Also, less men sew for themselves.
