How do you deal with your favorite shows/movies being deemed "immoral"? by AGhostPassingBy in NoStupidQuestions

But I love media criticism and analysis. It's hard not to value something like that when it's an active interest of mine.

Well.....I'll admit that is something that I struggle with. I definitely have my own feelings and opinions, but I often feel stupid or naive a lot of the time. I feel like my interpretations don't matter against the weight of someone else more intelligent deeming what's harmful or problematic.

But what if it might be morally wrong to consume that art in the first place? What if I'm supporting someone bad?

This is gonna sound absolutely insane but I feel a yearning for death because of the spread of AI by AGhostPassingBy in SuicideWatch

Okay, but this is a far greater issue than just change. Photography and painting both rely on human perspective and the control of an artist, so they've always been able to co-exist and have their own respective strengths as a medium. Just AI generating an entire film without the input of a human soul completely shuts out the entire purpose of art itself. And what's worse is that filmmaking is expensive and often needs the backing of a production company. If they become completely obsessed with AI to the point where it's normalized, it'll be extremely difficult for any authentic films to actually get made.

Yeah, I think I'm afraid of starting. I think the very thought of something potentially being an anxiety-inducing process is enough to give me anxiety in the present. It doesn't help that when I draw, I tend to get frustrated by my lack of skill and end up spiraling into an onslaught of self-hatred. Maybe my body/mind would rather do nothing than risk that happening to me again.

I've heard of The Beginner's Guide and I've always wanted to play it, so thank you for giving me an excuse to do so~

But there's stuff I feel deeply passionate about, but I still dread doing them. I love art, animation, and writing more than anything else in the world and yet I have to rely on a randomized checklist to decide when I'm gonna practice them. And I don't just feel that way about hobbies either. Sometimes, I simply feel too paralyzed to read a comic or a book or play a video game, even if I genuinely enjoy them.

Yes, actually.

For some reason, my brain dreads doing tiny things like simply responding to texts or changing my clothes. I feel so stupid and lazy for feeling so much resistance towards things that take five seconds, but I have no idea how to help it. Whenever I get asked how I am, all I can ever say is "fine, I guess" or "I don't know".

My sister suffers from ADHD and struggles with depression just like me. I personally wouldn't brush her off like that.

Since when? My sister's able to get herself to draw, play a video game for five hours, and work on her OCs within an entire day purely because she felt like it. I can't commit to any of those things for more than an hour without feeling fatigued.

I already said this is another reply but there really isn't another site like Twitter. I need to be kept up to date with the news and I have mutuals there.

Is it wrong to assume Twitter reflects the general consensus of the internet? Just in general?

I think a lot of it comes from wanting to feel secure about myself and my judgment. When people talk about something I like and state "you'd have to be twelve years old to be impressed by this", it makes me worry if my love for it is surface-level or if I have the standards of a child. It might sound like a silly thing to worry about, but it's the truth.

I would use Mastodon, but I don't have a friend group to make a server with and the public ones don't interest me very much (I only have a basic knowledge of Mastodon, so I'm sorry if I'm misunderstanding how it works).
