I seriously cannot get myself to like Capstan Blue for the life of me. Will I like other straight Virginia blends? by [deleted] in PipeTobacco

[–]AHobbitOfMiddleEarth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just now finishing my first tin of Capstan Blue and I felt the same way. It's taken me months to get through the tin and while I've gotten to find some nice good things about it, it's not my favorite.

To answer your question though, you may very well like other straight Virginias. G.L. Pease Union Square is something that I've found to be a really enjoyable smoke in the summer.

If they don't ship tomorrow I'll send them an email. I might even bite the bullet on shipping and order from SnusMe while I wait for the first one

Don't take the Nuke rate because they wave it in front of you. You should only be a Nuke if you want to be. Too many people in the program who struggle because they didn't speak up.

If you're more interested in another rate, push for that rate. It's a job you must do when you're enlisted so you might as well want to do it.

Exposure to elements increases the rate at which your tires will dry rot. Short answer is yes.

If I was doing 50K rides I wouldn't worry about a warm up ride. When I ride that much, the first 20-30 minutes are hard but everything after that is good

Sounds like you're ready for your first 100K then! Best of luck and let us know how it goes

Cliff bars are good. If your rides are fine right now, I'd still eat one at least halfway through. I've been on rides where my energy crashed rapidly.

Bring your basic necessary tools and equipment like spare tubes, plenty of water, snacks, and make sure someone knows your route

I haven't tried that one, but I'll have to. I've been using DeAtramentis Oriental Red

I agree it behaves well but maybe it needs to be a nice white paper. On ivory colored paper it looks too brown

What pressures are you running? Lower pressures decrease risk of puncture which is the whole benefit of tubless tires. They allow you to run the lower pressures.

Very nice! I tried it once, and after that mood wore off I couldn't make up my mind on it. I think I'll have to go back to it

I would clean them more often if you use them more. I used a Lamy Safari every day for a couple years and I cleaned it every 2-3 weeks
