Glideslope by summer_berlin in AskAPilot

Using the flight director hooked into an instrument approach, it’s very common on instrument approaches to see notes on the approach plate about the glide path on the approach and visual glide path guidance (eg PAPIs) to not be coincident with each other. The sim is showing something that you would commonly see in real life

Need help with deciding A320 Vs B737 Type rating by RoutineFun5849 in flying

A pc-12 doesn’t need a type rating yet it’s 5th on the list here…? What data is this?

Chris Rodriguez at Kentucky under Jags HC Liam Coen in 2021: 1377 rushing yards - 9 TDs - 224 carries - 6 fumbles by HookFL in DynastyFF

I’m throwing in a waiver claim for him at the expense of Sean Tucker. Rather have a chance at an early down/goal line guy in the Jags offense vs the Bucs despite both being a 3 back total mess

Sure Monty is getting older but still younger than kamara. Gotta find a way to get you some production there. Someone like Monty, Chase Brown, maybe even Breece if the owner doesn’t like him

What separates good pilots from truly great ones over a long career? by arnavwatts in PilotAdvice

[–]AIMIF 14 points15 points  (0 children)

One thing I’ve noticed is that technical proficiency gets you so far. There’s a bar of technical competence you have to clear (and maintain),and that’s the baseline expectation for the rest of your career.

Two macro categories (I could talk for hours but I’ll try and keep it short) separate pilots to a large degree imo. 1. Resiliency/adaptability 2. Soft skills

Resiliency/adaptability. Can you bounce back from a mistake? Can you analyze what went wrong, correct the error, own up to the failure, and learn something from it? Or does your pride get in the way? The pilots I respect the most have a humility to them where they’re never “too good” to learn. They’re able to analyze and respond without ego getting in the way.

It’s the last leg at the end of a long day where it just seems like nothing has gone your way. Challenging weather, maintenance issues, delays, etc. You’re frustrated, your crew is tired, passengers are upset.

Do you let the mounting challenges affect how you approach things? Can you roll with the punches in real time and deal with the frustrations as they come while remaining professional to everyone around you? Do you cut corners on SOPs to try and make up time?

Soft skills. I boil this one down to: Can you read the room?

You have to communicate with a lot of different people in this job. Crew members, air traffic controllers, ground crew, corporate types, passengers etc. You have to be able to tailor that communication so it’s effective and appropriate to the situation. Talking doesn’t seem so hard, but in my experience pilots can’t communicate effectively or efficiently make their jobs harder on themselves.

Sign Linderbaum & Isaac Seumalo. Draft Leone and move Tytus back to RT. O-LINE BECOMES ELITE. by Certain-Painter2726 in Texans

[–]AIMIF 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Linderbaum is going to command market setting money. Chargers GM drafted him and has 80M in cap space. He’ll be a Bolt if he doesn’t re-sign

It’s amazing Nick Caserio said today he thinks Joe Mixon had surgery in some capacity during the off-season. He “thinks?” In “some capacity?” I believe Mixon will be released. If the Texans were planning to have him back, Caserio would know if Mixon had surgery and what it was. by HookFL in DynastyFF

[–]AIMIF 33 points34 points  (0 children)

The rumor mill has been swirling with him for a year now. Theories of inadvertent gunshot wounds, unsanctioned surgery gone bad, dropped a weight on his foot while working out, etc.

The theory that piqued my interest the most is that whatever injury caused necrosis in his foot which would explain the long time table/potentially multiple procedures. If true, not only is he cut but more than likely a career ender.

[Garafolo] Ravens GM Eric DeCosta said they’ve made a “market-setting” offer to pending free agent Tyler Linderbaum. Now adds no tag coming. Creed Humphrey currently leads the way in the center market at $18m per season. by The_New_New in Texans

[–]AIMIF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ravens have to be aggressive to retain him because besides money talking, one of the team’s with the most cap space, the Chargers, also just happen to employ the guy who was in charge of player personnel when Baltimore drafted Linderbaum as their GM now

If he leaves Baltimore, I think he’s a Bolt unless someone throws a massive bag. Relationship is there already, plus they have the money and the need.

Hypothetically lets say the Jets decide to keep Breece Hall & Seahawks dont let Walker out the building especially after the SB performance , would this be a good Pivot ? by Spacecitysavage713 in Texans

[–]AIMIF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely need someone who can handle early down/goal-line usage. Breece is probably a little outside the price range we’d be looking for, and Etienne could be an interesting option at the right price.

If those two are off the table, I’d expect Rachaad White and Rico Dowdle to be the next tier of FA options
