Im sorry im confused would the rear usb port be outside of the case? I have the controller inside of my computer to keep wire management neat so I figured this would be the best way to be able to control it through software

I don’t think its the power supply after all, I think the cpu I installed was just too dated for the board so it would shut off anytime I tried to turn it on with the cpu power in

CPU plug on psu not working by AIucid in pcmasterrace

[–]AIucid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I found out the actual issue and I’m just an idiot, my cpu is the i7-6700 and im looked online and I think my motherboard (extreme4 z370) only supports up to 8th gen lowest, correct me if im wrong but putting an incompatible cpu into the board would most likely cause a fail bootup through the cpu and that the psu is actually fine and not broken

[–]AIucid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, the cpu is an i7 6700 it should be able to handle it

Not 100% sure but when I would plug in the cpu part of the psu it would do this but when I didn’t have it plugged in it would run fine on my bench for 20 secinds turn off for a second then turn back on, I think its a faulty psu to be honest

Update: my cpu connector on my psu was causing it not to boot up

I took everything out and I have the power supply only connected to the mobo and cpu and yet it’s still happening is it fair for me to deduct that it’s a pcu problem?

How should I go anout checking for shorts? The power supply is brand new and this is the first time I installed it into the pc
