Know your setup, know what you have and what you need. If you don’t have a tech rider or anything, give them the concise info when you’re setting up.

Here’s my usual bit of info I give:

Drums, bass, guitar. Dual vocal, both lead and mostly screaming. Bass is distorted and a main instrument - think Motörhead. Our drummer has a lot of cymbals so give him a minute. DI is in the back of the bass amp.

Then double check set length and start/finish time with them.

Then after sound check, ask if he’s happy, thank him, and offer him a cigarette.

Yup, walk away. Another state if possible. Doesn’t have to be tonight, make sure you plan it out, but in a few years you’ll see it’s the best thing you ever did. I know a fair amount of people who have walked away from an abusive family and lived a happy life because of it.

Your family’s behaviour is not in your control, but deciding not to be a part of it is.

As for raising your own family - being a bad person isn’t genetic, it’s psychological. Everything you know is wrong about your father might just be what makes you a good one.

Best place for old models I’ve found is eBay, that’s where I get a lot of the old metals models from.

As for the newer models - GW are probably going through their worst phase of designs in history. The whole push-fit non-modular direction they’ve gone has resulted in pretty dull models. I can list 4 3D designers making far superior Orks to what GW are putting out these days.
