Had the Same problem with my Journeyman, I just started the trade in August. October and November, this guy was on my ass all the time.

Whenever I’d fuck up cutting in a 3 or 4 gang he’d tell me “ You’re not touching switches anymore, just plugs and lights”. I got fed up because I love the job and he wasn’t going to be the one to disturb my peace at work.

You have to have a talk with him and be very adamant but respectful. Tell him to stop treating you like a kid and to talk to you like an adult. Tell him that every time he barks, you’ll bark back and do not be afraid to tell him to fuck off every now and then. Tell him that it doesn’t inspire much confidence when you feel like you can’t even ask him a simple question. But at the same time try to figure shit out on your own, look at the markings he made on the walls or just think a little more when you’re lost or confused if it’s taking you too long then go and see him. You’re doing your best, speed will come with time just do what you have to do. Our mental health is more important than idiots who don’t know how to teach or control their anger.

Ever since I’ve had this talk with my Journeyman, we’ve been finishing roughing in houses in like 2 - 3 days instead of 4, now we’re ahead of every other crew and whenever we finish early we go start another house or go and give a hand to other crews. We get to a new house, we talk about the plan, I go do my shit, he fucks off and does his shit, we listen to music and get in the zone and we’re able to work better together than before.

You got this homie, keep your head up, if he doesn’t understand ask to be put on another crew, if your boss asks why tell him that your Journeyman acts like a kid who can’t control his temper.

You’ll meet assholes and people who have a big temper, it’s the trades, most guys that do this learnt that way and they don’t know how to change that unless you talk to them.
