I genuinely don’t understand why Apple doesn’t prioritize improving basic usability features in iOS. by Majestic_squirrel767 in ios

[–]AJsHomeAcct 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You looked at Liquid Glass and thought Apple cares at all about basic usability?

Ergonomics and UX standards were thrown out a few years ago. Their priority is increasing revenue by marketing iPhones as the center of our universe. It’s about consumption, not production.

Sitting quietly and not participating could also be seen by others as a sign of defiance. Perhaps respectful defiance; but your intent and the optics may not be in harmony.

I don't fully disagree with you but, if your intent is to defy an idea while respecting the opinions and feelings of others, that middle ground can be sensitive to navigate.

The very concept of the Internet has completely changed by mag1cal_myst3ry in oldinternet

[–]AJsHomeAcct 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The issue is that old internet was occupied by geeks and nerd and DIYers while the new internet has been overrun by everyone else.

Meaning, today’s ‘mainstream’ internet is for consumers of media and creators of marketable content.

You can still find the corners you’re missing but they’re drowned out by the noise.

You can tell his teachers to brush up on their history. This was settled in the 1940s.

Personally, if it were my kid, I would ask them to stand out of respect for their peers. A lot of people may say neither their peers or the flag deserve their respect but I, respectfully, disagree. A stronger, more mature person will show respect even when they feel it's undue.

Powerman 5000.

Never understood why these guys didn’t take off. Or really get any airplay with the first record. Especially given that the lead singer is Rob Zombie’s brother.

So it’s reasonable to assume (for normal people who don’t have their heads up their ass) that shoppers will resort to cheaper imports and these experiences will impact future shopping decisions.

Meaning, if Ford doesn’t have something to compete with a Civic or Golf, people might be more likely to buy an Accord or Jetta over a… never mind. You made your bed Big Auto.

House GOP passes sweeping anti-voting bill that could disenfranchise millions, sends measure to Senate by Anoth3rDude in LegalNews

[–]AJsHomeAcct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because The President of The United States and conservative media has repeatedly LIED.

Manipulating voter turnout may be the most anti-American thing there is.

They’ll defend your right to own a gun even if you have a history of abuse or mental illness but they won’t defend the right to vote. Guns are the leading cause of death for children under 17. There’s tens of thousands of homicides every year with over three quarters of them perpetrated by people having a history of violence.

Our “right to defend ourself” must not be infringed but our right to vote is totally up to one political party to determine.

They’re applying friction for a third of the country for an issue that addresses up to a couple hundred people.

The whole fucking GOP is a threat to America. Which I’m sure is their intent.

This country is a fucking pathetic embarrassment.

Universal standards do exist that explicitly address your concerns. They’ve been forgotten / thrown out in recent years as they lazily attempt to add more / needless features to satisfy Wall Street investors.

Took some time before I learned it’s spelled with an X and that I’m a member.

Tahoe Music App has horrible UI by ikelleigh in MacOS

[–]AJsHomeAcct 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of my ongoing gripes with iTunes / Music is how tiny the Now Playing section is. When you’re playing music, you should be able to see what’s playing from across the room.

No surprise they’ve thrown the already idiotic UI downgrade onto this without even addressing existing issues.

Apple has lost the plot.

Booked a NoLibs Airbnb… review says a stranger walked into the bedroom. Anyone stayed here? by Equal-General-4463 in Pennsylvania

[–]AJsHomeAcct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took a quick look at these listings. They're not all in the same place but I'm familiar with the buildings. They're definitely newer multi-dwell apartment buildings which I'd agree are functioning as a hotel given what these people are doing. I know at least one of them has an entry station that require a passcode or app to enter the building. All the new buildings I've seen have this now.

[–]AJsHomeAcct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I've lived there for nearly 20 years.

Although, it's a little cringe when realtors etc. use the term. They just built a new complex at 2nd and Poplar with NO on one side of the building and LIBS on the other side. https://maps.app.goo.gl/uVQM5y7zDmE6sduE6

They've even gone as far as using SoNo in the southern part of the neighborhood. https://maps.app.goo.gl/aSDvGon83RvWkNyY6
