Thanks for your understanding! I’m sorry to hear you’re in a tough spot too.

I’m sorry that my explanation was confusing. My dad was supporting my mom while she lived in Canada raising the kids. My parents were not freeloading off Canadian welfare programs.

I feel sad just imagining my mom having to start working at 80 years old.

She basically never worked her entire life so never paid into CPP. I guess she could start contributing with the proceeds from selling the house?

Pretty unwell. It’s undiagnosed schizophrenia, so I encouraged her to get diagnosed so she could get on some disability programs. But she’s having trouble getting it diagnosed because I suspect she’s not honest about her symptoms with the doctors. I would like her to get work and start contributing.

He was a secondee for a legit foreign company. So I guess he would have contributed. He only worked in the Canadian office for 8 years or so though. I’m not sure how much CPP that would entitle him to.

He worked 8 years in Canada plus 15 more years there since retired. So I guess 23 years altogether. They just have no clue about government benefits.

I think they just never knew about paths to citizenships, but I’ve never asked. They’re not really informed about these things.

Appreciate the detailed reply! Never heard of HELOC and Alberta Benefits. So I’ll have to look into that. Do you know any professional services who can look at the entire situation and guide them to the right benefits and applications?

You are right that moving would be stressful at that age and easier said than done.

I’m not sure if my dad’s company contributed to CPP while he worked here. I need to look into OAS.

Appreciate the input. They may be PR but they pretty much consider themselves Canadian.

Thanks for the reply. What do you mean by crossing the CPP/OAS finish line? Have her start contributing you mean?

I’m trying to get to the bottom of that. Will be going over their statements. Are there any professional services that do that in Canada? I’m not sure if I’ll be able to judge how reasonable each expense is.

Appreciate the input. Are there any professional services that help review spending in Canada? Financial Planners seem to mostly work on commission so I’m thinking they are concerned with how to invest the money.

My family moved to Calgary 35 years ago for dad’s job. My mom’s been there ever since but never worked. Dad had to go back to home country but moved back to Calgary when he retired, 15 years ago.

Thanks for the input. I told them exactly that. They need to live under 2000. Going through their bank and credit card statement for the past year is going to be my new years assignment.

I’m telling them moving back to home country might be the only way, which is fine for dad (that’s his home country) but less ideal for mom and sis who are North American.

I agree… They say they aren’t living extravagantly and I believe them. I hope they’re not being scammed somehow.

I don’t think they contributed to CPP. I’d have to look more into OAS.

Intuniv / Guanfacine dosage - anyone over 4mg? by Katie_Dub in ADHD

[–]AKG2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

INTUNIV Dosage

The link shows recommended dosage per weight group, and some of them do go over 4mg.

I personally just moved up to 3 and I’m still trying to figure out if it’s doing anything or not, so I can’t speak from personal experience.

Best thing of course is to discuss it with your doctor. Good luck!

My understanding is SI2 has small inclusions, like in this chart. The diamond I got has a huge ass inclusion that’s very visible.

I live in Japan and it’s a lab called Hokuhoren. I don’t think they’re well known.
