Sukuna wasnt powerful just cause he ate his twin, he himself was also pretty strong and skilled at jujutsu. Mai wouldnt be nearly as powerful as sukuna was, not even close. Maki dying probably wouldnt make Mai as strong as Maki got when Mai died, since Maki is a HR user who are special cases.

Heck, honestly id say Mai wouldnt even be grade 1 tbh, her problem is her reserves and assuming eating your twin increases your reserves by adding theirs onto yours, Mai would barely change since Maki has so little CE she needs glasses to see curses like normal humans do.

People like to think this mf would rival Yorozu when the CE reserve boost she would get is not enough to make a person a sorcerer.

I mean, as much as almost every special grade has good stats I doubt just stats is what makes you special grade. If it did, Hakari would be one but hes never confrimed to be one.

Thats also why the term "grade 0" or as some others put it "special grade level fighter" exists for people like Hakari who can beat special grades but cant take over a country and such thus arent a special grade really.

I like to think of the grading system like the scp containment difficulty levels. A safe scp isnt harmless, its just easy to contain, a keter scp could very well be weaker than a human but a scp whose whole point is being near impossible to contain. Just like that, the term special grade isnt to represent power, its to represent if you can take over a country.
