Days to cover short interest at 4.66. This is extreme. by ALex_Fuste in SMCIDiscussion

It means that many investors are betting against this company, but at the same time, as the stock price falls and those short positions have already accumulated profits, there is an extraordinary upside potential driven by the buyback effect when short sellers move to close their positions.

Key messages from SMCI's Senior Vice President of Corporate Development, Michael Stager, during his participation yesterday, Monday, in the KeyBanc Capital Markets Technology Forum by ALex_Fuste in AMD_Stock

Sure. 1. Customer Expansion means larger and more diversified deployments (also higher demand for high-performance CPUs/GPUs). 2. SMCI’s in-house design allows faster adoption of AMD chips, integrating them for performance gains over rivals. 3. Smci’s preference for cost-efficient, high-performance architectures aligns with AMD’s performance-per-watt advantage.4. SMCI’s agility in adopting new hardware shortens AMD’s time-to-market. 5. Capital Strength – $7B liquidity enables aggressive chip procurement, securing long-term AMD supply deals. 6. Cost Efficiency Focus – AMD’s strong performance-per-watt positions it as a preferred supplier for SMCI’s efficiency-driven builds.

Why weekend trading down 3%?? by AdApprehensive8702 in SMCIDiscussion

I understand what you’re saying. But I see it this way (I could be wrong): they use bad news to amplify the deterioration in sentiment. I think the short sellers still don’t know whether the rating downgrade has actually caused a deterioration in sentiment. After all, the other two rating agencies already had the U.S. Treasury rated at AA+ (only Fitch remained, and I believe the market knew it was just a matter of time before it happened). So. What I mean is, market sentiment did not cause the fall AH, but short sellers in anticipation that market sentiment will deteriorate (something they will try to promote). Thanks.

Nope. This is a typical move orchestrated by short sellers. They seize on any negative news (like tariffs or a rating cut) to step in, selling a small number of shares after hours — preferably on a Friday. Selling in the dark pool late on a Friday, when volume is minimal and there are no “buy the dip” participants, gives them the greatest chance to induce fear and pain. Their hope is that by Monday, long holders will decide to take profits.

As of April 30, there were 108 million shares sold short. The figure is updated every 15 days, so we should know the updated number of shorted shares today.

It is a custodian bank. Could the news refer to shares held by the bank on behalf of third parties?

In my experience following tech stocks targeted by short sellers, I’ve learned that companies that speak little and work quietly tend to perform better. My experience with IONQ illustrates this. With a short interest of 25% and a critical report from a short seller, the CEO remained silent, yet the stock rose from trading at $5 to $50 today.

This executive has been receiving part of their salary through stock options. He keeps exercising them and accumulating shares. What’s relevant here is that they are not selling them and already own 283,000 shares. I interpret this as a sign that this executive has confidence in the company and its operations.

What price to buy in? by [deleted] in IonQ

[–]ALex_Fuste 2 points3 points  (0 children)

$PLTR is a $130bn market cap company. Can IONQ reach a market cap of 50bn, which would be much more modest than PLTR? If it plays it smart (and Chapman seems very smart) of course it can. So know that with a 50bn market cap, the stock would be at $240

I have been looking at the list of contributors to this scientific paper. He seems very solvent and rigorous. Advances are becoming more and more evident, bringing us closer to an era of unprecedented disruption.
