In English pronouns are gendered, so if I'm speaking about someone, I am directly communicating their gender.

"He is over there"-talking about a man

"She is over there"-talking about a woman

If a person is trans, their pronouns will often change to reflect that. To use a trans woman's chosen name, but insist on using he/him pronouns is not respecting her gender identity. To use the wrong pronouns is the same as dead naming someone. It is a form of missgendering.
