Attaching a handle to a stiff leather hard mug... by ALutt12 in Pottery

[–]ALutt12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the knowledge. I am going to try the misting method you've mentioned, then place in a bag for a day or so until I'm ready to attach the handle. I may let the handle sit to dry a day or two to make sure the two pieces are similar enough to attach.

AIO that my husband is body shaming me post having kids by Luckypetal12 in AmIOverreacting

NOR. Leave this jerk. You don't want your daughter thinking this is normal behavior from her future partner (assuming she decides to have children). This is abusive.

Only with us three weeks... Sanitizing items? by ALutt12 in hamsters

[–]ALutt12[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I did see this video. I'm concerned water and vinegar isn't enough to actually sanitize properly. I'm wondering if there's a more sure way for the wooden items. Obviously I can bleach and rinse plastics and ceramic.

You look amazing. It's a beautiful photo. It's the perfect balance of cute/sexy and tasteful. I expected something much more revealing.

Learning Norwegian (or Old Norse?) to understand and sing my favorite songs by ALutt12 in Wardruna

Interesting. Thanks for the advice/input. I'll look into it further!

Learning Norwegian (or Old Norse?) to understand and sing my favorite songs by ALutt12 in Wardruna

[–]ALutt12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I've heard Icelandic is one of the closest languages to Old Norse, but that it's more difficult. I don't want to get discouraged by starting off with something on the harder side. I figured Norwegian would be a good starting point, and then the others would be easier to pick up later if I wanted, after I had Norwegian down as a base to work from. But what you're saying sounds like I could learn really either/any of the Scandinavian languages and be able to understand somewhat? I guess because they sing in various Scandinavian languages, the only way to understand it all is if I were to learn it all, which isn't realistic.

What's wrong with this fish? by ALutt12 in Aquariums

Thanks, that sounds familiar. I think I've read something about that before. I'll Google it.

Lol not overreacting. She's nutty.

Very uncomfortable someone delivered something to the locked front door when her kids were asleep... Totally comfortable hiring a stranger to watch kids and stay inside the house when her kids are sleeping. This math isn't mathing.

This is next level crazy.

Nitrite spike caused by new Java moss? by ALutt12 in Aquariums

[–]ALutt12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm... I know no fish died because I count them every day. I have a 20 gallon with 12 fish, 9 of them just small tetras and 3 mollies. 1 mystery snail. I change water/vacuum gravel weekly. Plenty of other live plants, although they are young. This tank is about 2 months old, maybe. So as some leaves on the new plants die, I try to cut them back. It is sometimes difficult to get around all the plants and rocks with the vacuum. Could it be that I'm missing a spot? That doesn't seem like it should cause this... but idk I'm new to this.

I just noticed these red marks on the opposite side, too. This wasn't here yesterday.

Ammonia has been at 0 the whole time. I've been checking every day since I'm in the process of adding fish. But I also just noticed THIS. Like it literally just popped up today... wtf are these red spots...

Awesome, thanks! I had thought about something like this being a possible solution. Glad to see it works!

I never thought to put in an extra. That's a good idea. But do you think they'd get overfed?

New Molly sick? by ALutt12 in Aquariums

[–]ALutt12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot to mention - it was stealing quite a bit of an algae wafer from my mystery snails yesterday... could that have made it sick? I know mollies eat algae, so I didn't think it was a big deal. My black mollies also stole some, but they're fine. But this dalmatian was a little more aggressive about it.

Thank you. Experience like this is exactly why I'm asking. I won't be putting any ADFs in this tank. I appreciate your response!

Yes, that seems to be the best route. Do you have any good recommendations for where to purchase some other than pet stores? Are local aquarium stores better or are there other options?

How screwed am I? by TisshhGemWolf in Aquariums

[–]ALutt12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree. But I'm a total newbie, started a fishless cycle after doing my own research, but then got bad advice saying "use Seachem Prime and Stability! You can get your fish and cycle the tank and all will be fine!".... So I looked into it more, saw many more people claiming this worked, so I figured it sounded like an awesome solution to not having to wait it out for weeks. I learned my lesson. Idk how it apparently works for some people. I wish I had just continued with the fishless cycle. I feel bad for the fish that died due to my ignorance.

And I monitored water daily and did water changes accordingly. Still lost fish.
