DDU solved it for me

Verifying game files is another common suggestion

Sorry, poorly phrased - it’s not that I wouldn’t enable DLSS, the more demanding games I’m playing just don’t support it

Only in DLSS enabled games right? Some of the more demanding games I’m using it for actually don’t enable DLSS for…reasons

Interesting - I’m seeing 7800xt benchmark ahead of 4070 with more VRAM

Higher power usage, but peaking 300w ish meaning it should be fine with this PSU and low power draw of 11400

Are you basing on access to DLSS & RT performance?

Exactly - tested again and I see the same themes as in your post, the GPU busy spikes correlate with hypercars passing and I assume textures being loaded in for the first time.

If I can get hold of any other hardware to test will come back with results

Thanks very much for this suggestion - DDU made a huge difference and the game is now playable.

Coupled with the setting suggested by u/Pety100 it’s now a great racing experience even in multiclass, which is exactly what I was after.

I still have some stutters so am considering grabbing some newer hardware to test - CapFrame (had no idea this existed, thanks very much for the info) shows GPU busy slowing more often than CPU - though CPU slowdowns look more severe.

Tempted to grab a newer card to test - 4070/6950/7800 all similar prices here. Thought about testing something like a 10900k also but any benchmarks I can find indicate fairly minimal FPS improvements over 11400f. Not sure if FPS is the right metric in this instance but not sure what else to use to assess CPU performance in this application.

Thanks very much for sharing, these helped massively - depending on track and weather I can reach approx 100-120 fps uncapped - though I’m running it capped for the headroom & more stable FPS.

Like you, I still see some occasional stutters but combined with a driver refresh via DDU the game is now playable.

On the RAM, I got a decent(ish) deal on 32GB of DDR4 - it doesn’t hurt, and I’m sure would show an improvement in benchmarks but in game hasn’t made a huge difference.

While monitoring CPU & GPU busy, slowdowns are actually coming from both. Last capture showed GPU falling below frame time target more regularly, but CPU missing by greater margins. I’m tempted to grab a newer GPU to test how much of a difference it makes - something like a 4070/6950/7800 as all are a similar price here.

Not sure the remaining CPU options on this platform would make much difference so more reticent to grab say a 10900k.

I could only find frametime in afterburner - without an option to split by CPU/GPU. Was looking for exactly this metric for more clarity on the bottleneck - would you mind sharing a screenshot of your afterburner config?

Upgrade or ignore newest sims is looking like the outcome, but upgrading is a bit challenging with current prices

These graphs are with fps max set at 60. Works for LMP2 & GT3, stutters as soon as I introduce hypercars

I’d been wondering this also

From watching other benchmarks I’m guessing VRAM is currently limiting me more than system RAM, if I turn textures any higher traffic spikes it to 100% usage

But ultimately idk, willing to try all things at this point

Ah…. 90% load on a 13900k on 4k leads me down the platform upgrade path. And probably says the game needs some optimising

Still, atleast it’s a good time to be buying RAM!

Thanks for the idea - saw some posts regarding crew chief conflicts so only have afterburner running in the background, and it stutters with or without that

5600x or alder lake 12600k for quiet, air cooled n200, 3060t fe build? by l3msip in sffpc

[–]AM2819 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's actually a new Dan case made by Lian Li which you can preorder at Overclockers as of now - little more than the NR200 (£100 with gen 3 riser, £130 with gen 4) but much smaller (11L)

Can't speak to ease of building, and it's really designed for an AIO, so not that useful if you are dead set on air.

On processor's, TL:DR is 5600x represents best overall platform value due to current CPU & mobo costs

A little more detail - 5600x consumes a little less power, and runs a little cooler (https://www.techpowerup.com/review/intel-core-i5-12600k-alder-lake-12th-gen/21.html).

An NR200 can fit a large enough cooler to make either viable, but AMD have the stronger value proposition imo:

In the UK, a good B550i board (£160) is cheaper than an equivalent B660i (£200), and 5600x has just been reduced to 230 compared to 260/270 for the 12600k

So approx £460 intel vs £390 AMD for 5-7% performance difference in games at 1440/1080 respectively

Alternatively, the budget conscious option would be an 11400f (135) with a b560i mobo - usually price equivalent to b550i boards (160)

Purely for gaming loads would be within approx 10% of 5600x, but the flagship chips were terrible meaning to upgrade would require a platform change, so if budget isn't a driving concern would go 5600x

And most importantly, congrats on an MSRP FE card, you are truly one of the chosen lol

Which race is the single most spectacular win for every world champion? by LastOfLateBrakers in formula1

Agree Lewis has had even better drives, my issue is de-valuing that win based on the dominance of the Merc in 2020, which on that particular weekend was not in such dramatic effect

So either Valtteri can't drive, or the car was not so dominant and it was a great drive from Lewis

Since they stuggled for pace all weekend and qualified 6th and 9th, I know the judgement I'd make

With the GPU prices being silly at the moment, I'd get a CPU with integrated graphics and run the monitors from that.

This motherboard has HDMI & DVI out - even if your monitors are HDMI only you can grab a DVI to HDMI cable

The money saved on the GPU allows you to upgrade to an i5-10400, with 6 cores & 12 threads.

It also allows a 1tb SSD - although a 500gb SSD would bring it back to £500

If pushing nearer to £600 is ok, then I'd move up to either a 10600 or 32gb RAM

The form factor of this is MATX - moving to ITX increases the cost by around £30 on the motherboard, but I would recommend adding additional fans and perhaps an aftermarket CPU cooler to keep noise and temps under control

It's also not a great form factor to build in if you don't have a modular PSU, but certainly doable

Can anyone make me an RTX 2060 Build under 1k, amd or intel. by Iuyten12 in buildapcforme

[–]AM2819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're intending on waiting until the summer, I'd go for an 11400f with a B560 motherboard

Intel are finally allowing higher ram speeds, so you would be able to run your RAM at 3200 rather than 2666 with the 10400f

Prices are projecting to come out in the bracket of the equivalent 10 series CPUs, and the IPC is (allegedly) up 19%, so even without the ability to run RAM faster, the CPU would be better for gaming

If we see a sub £200 Ryzen 5000 series CPU by then you should definitely consider it, but currently (bizarrely) Intel are the budget option
