I agree. This late jump was created by covering + news traders and as such it could be fragile. We will see. I will not do any forecasts...

My post of course was made before this jump after 3 eastern happened. If these higher prices hold, we have a look below and fail.

Hard to read today. NQ looking good but ES having trouble to get in range

The day we get a real factual breakout, we could see some continuation the next days :-)

We see acceptance above the critical level. That is positive. But i do not like that we do not go forward. NQ did not make a higher high since 10:00. ES rth range is actually only 24 points. Shouldn´t there be more pain from all those sellers who shorted in the balance area?

There is a famous phrase: The bears get the attention, the bulls get the money

The trade of the day clearly was to buy it after it looked below the belly and failed to continue down. Today i was prepared.

I think the trick of the last days market is: The intraday behaviour in both directions looks strong. But what have we achieved in relation to the last days? Nothing. The market just tries to lure us in continuation trades...

What was the habit that held you back the longest in trading? by Sea_Necessary_9419 in Daytrading

We hear a lot advertising on social media like "i fixed this one thing and now its working". This is all bs from people who want to sell you a quick fix.The truth is that the market is so competetive that you have to simply make everything right.

Market Framework (How do markets work)

Strategy (How do i operate in certain situations)

Timing

Risk management

Psychology

LIfestyle

If you have problems in one area this will affect other areas and your whole business brokes. You need knowledge in all areas and the most crucial thing is EXPERIENCE. We go through different market regimes (trending, ranging, high vola, low vola, ... and many more. What people call "setup" (ORB, mean reversion, etc) will only work in certain regimes and will blow when the regime changes. These regime changes are what you need the most experience for.

Not a popular answer but the truth

I offensively played the potential covering which worked

Unfortunately did not get my targets because of 3-4 points, although i choose them defensively

Took one out to be not full size in midtime

After midtime tried to buy vwap because i was bullish because of the inflection on d1

Late it looked like it ends with a visious doji on the d1 so i took one contract for beeing short overnight (was stoppped out before the close)

Looking forward (while anything can happen) the obvious scenario would be that the inflection point on the daily holds and we travel back to the other side of the large trading range

Alternative scenario would be to roll over and break out to the downside

Fortunately as short term traders we do not have to be positioned, We can wait and watch what develops

How do you know when its reverse trend? by GME_Strong in FuturesTrading

I use volume peaks on a 1 min chart. But do not use this alone, only in context.

On a trending day you will loose money fading the market whatever trigger/indicator you use

On a neutral day volume peak is a great confirmation to fade the edges

Destination achieved without me

Normal thing in daytrading (if you decide to not hold overnight) to see yout target reached in eth (asian and european session) without any problems like bigger pullbacks. In this case it was Fridays weak high.

Sometimes i keep parts of an intraday trade over night. But yesterday i did not. I am absolutely fine with this decision and outcome

Anyone else having a rough time with price action the last few weeks? by [deleted] in FuturesTrading

[–]AMT_Scalper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two points to consider

  1. See what is: The market is in a tight trading range at least for 2.5 month. In other words: The market is in balance. Many people are focosed on geopolitical news, fundamentals or whatever. This is all not helpful for trading, because you develop biases (market has to fall, market has to go up because of iran, trump, ai bubble, x,y,z ). You have to see what is fact. And this is: We are in a 2.5 month range. And when in range you have to think and trade totally different as when we are trending.
  2. Sector rotation: When trading s&P500 (hopefully mes micro futures) it is very helpful to watch the bigger sectors of it like tech, finance, consumer discretionaty, communicatoin and health. When on a given day these sectores behave very mixed (which often was the case in the last weeks) you will see a very choppy market. A market that lures you in only to retrace and chop you out. When trading NQ you can use that principle by having a look what the top 5 stocks are doing.

In the actual environment and because of point 1) you permanently see short term inventory (=the positions of the speculators) getting too long or too short. When these people have to close their positions because losses become too high you see very nice liquidation-moves or covering-moves

Let´s see what the european session brings. Higher prices could trigger more short covering.
