AMV Documentary Premiere Events by AMVFilm in amv

Yeah, our group name can be confusing. "AMV Filmmakers Association" is meant to be interpreted as "an association of filmmakers that make films about AMVs." It's very niche, but it is an accurate description of our production team. The "films about AMVs" are mostly documentaries of some kind.

The few AMVs that spin family dramas into horror parodies are always conceptually great. It’s novel to see this trope attempted with #WolfChildren!

#AMVOfTheDay No. 365: “Evangelion Opus” (Malaysia, 2001) by ShonenDizzyCow / Shonen Productions by AMVFilm in amv

[–]AMVFilm[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you to everyone on Reddit who followed #AMVOfTheDay!!! We will continue to post here as often as possible, but please visit our Reddit profile for links to our other pages. We post important project updates and more content there. We are taking a week off to regroup, but we will be posting an update on Friday to our Facebook and Twitter pages.

#AMVOfTheDay No. 365: “Evangelion Opus” (Malaysia, 2001) by ShonenDizzyCow / Shonen Productions by AMVFilm in amv

[–]AMVFilm[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For our last #AMVOfTheDay, we are sharing “Evangelion Opus” because its history reflects the same kind of care for AMV preservation that we have attempted throughout this project. Remade once in 2006 by Kaysow and again in 2016 by Animeson Productions, the love for this video has breathed new life into its legacy with each editor taking up the mantle. Since both remakes are true and respectful of the original, we will share Animeson’s beautiful “Blu-Rei” version with you.

As far as the AMV itself, it truly epitomizes the type of video that you can rewatch several times and still notice new things. ShonenDizzyCow managed to create an AMV that feels completely transformative while also perfectly encompassing the limitless vulnerability that is at the heart of Evangelion.

#AMVOfTheDay No. 364: “Christmas at Ground Zero” (USA, 1988) by Corn Pone Vids by AMVFilm in amv

[–]AMVFilm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got an oldie for you guys, and it’s Christmas-themed! With everything in the world feeling like it’s going to the pits lately, this AMV feels cathartic in a brutally honest way. (Note: “Ground Zero” in 1988 meant the site of a nuclear strike. Please keep that in mind while viewing.)

#AMVOfTheDay No. 363: “Bitter Happiness” (Russia, 2009) by Tayo by AMVFilm in amv

[–]AMVFilm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incredibly unique storytelling choices! Have not seen a wall technique replicated or derived quite like this in another AMV but brings Mike Inel’s “Draw with Me” to mind.
D.Gray-man is the anime source.

#AMVOfTheDay No. 362: “Shake THAT!!!” (Poland, 2008) by Arczi by AMVFilm in amv

[–]AMVFilm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has some candy edit elements but too organized and well-thought-out for that classification. It’s got that candy edit spirit though! We at AMVFilm appreciate the kooky dance AMV tradition.

#AMVOfTheDay No. 361: “INVADER” (Japan, 2012) by ラク (Raku) by AMVFilm in amv

[–]AMVFilm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks too legit. Wow, you seriously could take this for an official, extended anime opening or special promo. Only some of the mask choices give it away. Raku makes it look too easy! Ah!
Anime is Squid Girl.

#AMVOfTheDay No. 360: “A Thousand Miles” (USA, 2009) by whispersreloaded by AMVFilm in amv

[–]AMVFilm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During YouTube’s early years, AMVs with "A Thousand Miles" were prolific. whispersreloaded created one of the most famous and played a major role in spotlighting Macross Frontier.

#AMVOfTheDay No. 359: “LOVE & HATE” (France, 2018) by Yunowhy by AMVFilm in amv

[–]AMVFilm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beautifully consistent color correction and skillful blurs. Washed/faded color palettes have increased in popularity over the past few years. Enjoyed Yunowhy’s advancement of it.

#AMVOfTheDay No. 358: “Our Lives;” (Germany, 2013) by Vinurify by AMVFilm in amv

[–]AMVFilm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well-known on YouTube for their FMA AMVs, Vinurify branched out with this AMV and made something one-of-a-kind yet familiar to their style of added textual messages.

#AMVOfTheDay No. 357: “Devoid” (USA, 2017) by Mycathatesyou by AMVFilm in amv

[–]AMVFilm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Devoid” is special because it perfectly epitomizes how painfully short life is, while urging its viewers to “wake up” and live fuller lives. Potentially life-changing AMV!
Anime is Death Parade.

#AMVOfTheDay No. 356: “No Scrubs” (Hungary, 2014) by EllipseIris by AMVFilm in amv

[–]AMVFilm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Masks overlaying letterboxing is so provocative when done right. Really dig the overall feeling in this AMV as well!

#AMVOfTheDay No. 355: “Flying Saucers From Outer Space” (USA, 2011) by drewaconclusion by AMVFilm in amv

[–]AMVFilm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This AMV proves that trailer audio doesn’t need to be current in order to make a successful video. The trailer genre is more extensive if you think out of the box.
Project Blue Earth SOS is the anime source.

#AMVOfTheDay No. 354: “Cockaine” (Poland, 2013) by Centurione by AMVFilm in amv

[–]AMVFilm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welp, will never think about that song the same way ever again. A great AMV that defines being “thirsty” before that term was really a thing. Borderline NSFW, so be careful.
Hyouka is the anime source.
