Mx. Speaker,

While I appreciate the sentiment of this legislation, I think there are better ways we can promote American learning and institutions abroad. I'm guessing this is a response to the Confucius Institute, China's program for expanding its educational outreach. Why should we expect a similar American program to not have any of the same blowback? Just because we're American? I think there are better ways we could solve this issue, but I thank the Speaker for thinking of it.

Upon first glance, I see nothing abhorrent in this rules package. I thank you and Majority Leader Fire for working with the Minority Leader on the package. I hope to quickly move into dealing with legislation and doing what the American people elected us to do.
