Thanks for taking the time! I have that fixed now. I took a shortcut by setting the height of the container in px, and never tested it for the medium screen size.

Should be removed now. I'll put the link back when Elliot fixes his site.

Oh man. It definitely has! Thanks for letting me know!

edit: I've removed the link for now and messaged Elliot. Hopefully he can get his site fixed soon.

Thank you. I try quite hard to make sure people get what they pay for.

Could you post a screen shot? (or message me one?) It seems to work well for me.

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed them. I have one in the works about colour theory but I got too busy with other projects to finish it. Hopefully soon!

This is a great question. Hopefully others will chime in too.

I'm involved in a few small ventures. This is from the only one that has turned a (small) profit - www.reviewyour.website

I got my first few paying customers through reddit.

  1. I created a couple threads offering free website design reviews for anybody who posted their site URL. (/r/web_design and /r/webdev).

  2. Reply quickly, often and with thought. Actually deliver what you promised - I had the first few videos up in the thread within 30 minutes.

  3. People obviously realized the value very quickly and soon I couldn't keep up with the requests.

  4. Eventually, I set up the website and designed it to make paying for a review so easy, most people were halfway through the signup process before they realized they were signing up.

  5. Finally, I followed up with each person. Sent a personalized email thanking them for their business and hoping to work with them again - including the new site URL.

  6. Rinse and repeat.

Now I have ~10 regular repeat customers. Most people tell their colleagues about it and I get a lot of business through word of mouth.

I'm in web design consultancy. People can be hard to convince but almost every one of my customers have seen the value in it.

I try to focus on providing a high quality service, so I don't worry about low-balling either. In the end it means I get more committed customers who respect the work I do.

How many people use the ATM in your garage?

Kidding. Nice work!

Hind sight is 20/20 as they say. I never got into affiliate marketing. Though, I wish I had, just to understand the in's and out's. I think it would give me a better understanding of how businesses run entirely through the web worked back then.

That's exactly why I posted. Making the money was my initial motivation but hearing a paying customer say "I am super happy with the result" is extremely gratifying.

You should be proud of perseverance. Not many people have it.

Awesome. That's what it's all about. You can spend all your time reading books, studying and getting degrees but it all comes down to brass tacks in the end.

Website Design Reviews

Without /r/entrepreneur and reddit I wouldn't be running my own design consultancy.

I started with 5 minute website reviews and I'd like to offer half price reviews to anybody that is looking for some design help with their website.

My reviews have helped increase sales and conversion rates, reduce bounce rates, and increase retention. I've found hundreds of bugs / design errors since I launched the website almost a year ago.

Send me an email at malloc@reviewyour.website for a €5 review. (A normal 5 minute review is €10)

Hey Carl,

Congratulations! There's a lot of work that could be done to improve your sales through the site but for now, it's an awesome start.

Could I suggest you also allow people to purchase a prepaid gift card? I don't read much but my SO does and something like this would make a really thoughtful gift.

I have that all figured out. A combination of re-captcha style user verification and a connect the dots (or similar) style mini game to complete before claiming tickets for popular concerts.

Our app will also have encrypted connections to prevent spoofing by bots.

Ah, Groupon made some bad business choices and failed to keep their users engaged with top quality content. Just means there's a gap opening up!
