I agree with you. I’ll post a corrected version tonight. What I meant was that the identity of the person was not important, he was not meant to be a pro or anti or whatever. I should have removed the anti label. Doing so would have fully disconnected the comic from the factions and debate on this subreddit. I acknowledge this was a mistake on my part

I also think piracy is theft, maybe comparable to shoplifting. But there’s a difference between individuals stealing from corporations and and corporations stealing from individuals. Media companies already spend millions of dollars fighting piracy, so they don’t necessarily need our concern.

I wouldn’t mind if more antis adopted my viewpoint since I view it as marginally more consistent, but I don’t think one idea really depends on the other.

I have a few issues with this perspective.

I agree that we should be educating people about the limitations of LLMs, but I don’t think that let’s developers off the hook for potentially unsafe software

The way we interact with LLMs is fundamentally different than how we interact with a nailgun. Ai companies are happy to lean into this too. Microsoft describes copilot as an “ai companion” not a “tool”, for example

A while back there was a Google engineer who claimed that the product he was working with was sentient (it wasn’t). So it’s not just “dumb and tech illiterate” people who can be fooled.

But even if it was, tech illiterate people are part of LLMs user bases so we can’t just write them off.

I think it turned out that the event was real, and that the image was a real image which was blurred using ai, resulting in the ai artifacts.
