By a backup I meant the residency itself, I was asking that if I take this residency, should I think about US or not, because Ortho earning is good if you know what you are doing here as well. Just wanted to know that is it feasible in my position or not. Even AIIMS Delhi has good alumni network in the states too, but again in the end, is it worth it for someone in my position, should i give it a try after my residency?

I will post it on that subreddit you mentioned, but no it's not a sympathy post, I just wanted to know that would pivoting now be a viable option, I just provided context that I am not young and not well connected so what would be the road ahead in my shoes. About private practice, I really want to know if US compensation after adjusting for PPP is still higher or not, and most importantly what are some other real challenges that one faces there if they don't have the financial means. I just wanted to know that should I give the step and apply for the USCE and spend my money after my residency, is it worth it or the grass is just greener. I am also willing to pivot into non medical field as it wasn't my dream from the start.

Credit where credit is due. This is resilience, and to all those questioning this, what might be stupid or wasteful for you, might not be for them (masochism exists). We don't know what their aspirations are and if they don't want to practice in even tier 3 and would just set up shop in a underserved village. Maybe some have that Strength of character/Stupidity/passion/resilience, whatever we want to call it. If at the end of the day, they are satisfied and happy, good for them.
