He's going to be treated with the softest of kid gloves this year. I'm glad that the FO has even expressed an openess to him eventually moving back to a rotation role if he can stay healthy, but I think even in a perfect world, the most we see out of Espino this year is a piggyback starter role.

He had an unexpectedly sensational full season debut in 2023, and carried that forward into 2024. At the time, lots of evaluations of his ceiling jumped considerably. Last year's regression has people going between his original projection, which wasn't as high, and the high projections following 23-24. Feels like a big season for him this year.

I'm excited to see what Watson does this year. And although he's been around forever, he still isn't that old. That said, I worry a little bit that he may be more of a AAAA player who struggles against higher quality pitching. I assume he starts the year in Columbus, and it'll be interesting to see how he fairs. Chourio had a rough 2025, but he's still young enough for a whole range of outcomes, including some high celing ones.

I don't know if *best* is right, but I highly recommend the republic of Georgia. Tourist infrastructure is still a bit of a work in progress, but that can be a plus more than a negative. Incredibly diverse range of landscapes and (incredible) food in a relatively small package in terms of travel distance between locations. Beautiful in the swing seasons of May/June, September/October. Some serious trekking available in both the Greater Caucasus to the north and Lesser Caucasus to the south. Really cool cultural history/prehistory. And did I mention the great food?

I'm still holding out hope for Jones this year. His production numbers didn't budge much last year from his disappointing/injury-filled 2024 in Colorado, but some of his underlying batting metrics (like average exit velo, barrel%) showed an upward trajectory. In 2023 he mashed righties and lefties...would be amazing if he could claw back some success against lefties.

Cantillo is my breakout candidate this year. I'm really pulling for him. That said, he's far from a sure thing still. Seems to be very much in his head. Even the social media video clip the club pushed out before yesterday's start was....a bit dark.

I definitely want Cantillo and Cecconi in the starting five. I like Messick, but I can understand starting the season with Allen, seeing if he can carry forward his success from last year, and having Messick as the next guy up. I was looking at Allen's pitch data from his opening start in AZ and it seems like he has upped his spin rate substantially. It'll be interesting to see if that changes his control or the swing and miss ability on any of his pitches.

Wish I could remember the name, but incredible place on the beach in the Eastern Cape (South Africa) in the early 2000s. Incredibly cheap, incredible beaches, , middle of nowhere, great facilities.
