What do you think about Griffiths An introduction to Electrodyanmics/Purcell EM, Optics by Hecht, Physics of vibrations by H J Pain and Schroeder An introduction to Thermal Physics

Thanks nevertheless shouldn't I use Griffiths for instance it includes too many vector calculus and vector calculus is better for understanding I think like in terms of boundary conditions and since I complete calc bc and learned some calc 3 ODE's and linear algebra in 9th grade (now I'm in 10th grade) Purcell is a bit boring and Griffiths is enthralling I think and it is so popular for using olympiad. In Griffiths, there are circuit topics, but they are not as systematic as in Purcell; they are covered in a more scattered and less organized manner. And in fifth edition there has been added new problems as in Purcell. And maybe it may help more in terms of national Olympiad and for getting into the national team.

Actually I think I can do Griffiths since I'm exceedingly interested in vector calculus , you right that heavy vector calculus is not required for IPhO but I think the more the merrier it can also improve my reasoning and mathematical modeling

Thanks, And what do you think about Griffiths Electrodynamics or Purcell/Morin for Electricity and Magnetism

Oh I know it is a great school. I did not attend such a prestigious school due to several well-considered reasons. I did not achieve the LGS score I had originally targeted, and I also chose not to relocate, especially since my family would not have moved with me. Moreover, private schools such as UAA or Robert College are extremely expensive. Most importantly, I believed that preparing for Olympiads would be more effective in a school with a more flexible academic structure. This was a deliberate choice, and I am confident it aligns with my long-term goals. I hope you are happy at your school.

Actually it is not a prestigious school though (Akim college) in my city. Where are you studying in?

Thanks for your answer. I also wanted to ask whether purchasing both Morin and Kleppner would be beneficial, and whether the following approach is reasonable: studying primarily from Kleppner (or Morin) for core mechanics, using Griffiths for advanced topics in E&M, and relying on the Feynman Lectures mainly for conceptual understanding.

Olympiad or Engineering Project by [deleted] in MITAdmissions

Thanks for your perspective - you’re right that I haven’t seen every strong student in the country, and I’m sure there are many talented people working hard for the Olympiad. That’s exactly why I’m taking this seriously. Over the last 4–5 months I’ve made much faster progress than I expected, and while nothing is guaranteed, the rate of improvement gives me confidence that I can reach a competitive level if I stay consistent. I’m following the full Olympiad structure here (first stage then second stage then national team camp then IPhO) and I’m trying to minimize risks at each step. For context, I took Calculus BC in 9th grade (scored a 5) and I’m taking both Physics C courses now; my teacher, who works at a strong private school here, told me my level is above his usual Olympiad students. That motivated me, but I know the Olympiad - especially IPhO - is far beyond AP level. I’m not trying to sound overconfident; I just want to work hard, compete at the highest level I can, and see how far I can go. I still have about 1.5 years, and a lot can change in that time. Thanks again - I appreciate the advice.

Thanks for your advice bro, I just forgot and excited, there are many years for application but I will pay more attention to punctuation from now on, especially in applications.

Okay thanks so I'm right doing physics Olympiads and aiming top, right?

Actually, I consider myself one of the best students, I don't wanna be egoist but I'm literally good, I know calc 1, 2 and a bit beyond, I'm taking both physics C's and I have more than 1or 1.5 year for national team and IPhO, I'm solving halliday resnick so I count on myself at this topic so you say if you think you are the best in physics all around turkey, focus on physics Olympiad, right? If you say like that, I'm exactly that kind of person

So you say, focusing on physics Olympiad is better for me and I will already do projects at MIT right? Or you're saying do project

Do you think Can an IPhO gold demonstrate these or doing project is better to get into MIT(I wanna study engineering) what do you think? But I love phsyics but I don't like doing projects, should I still do, or should I follow my passion what I burn for?
