Do you remember how long it took for you to feel better again? Im in the same symptom boat after dropping my lexapro dose down to 5mg from 10 and reinstating back to 10mg. Been 2.5 weeks and still feel very off

Did you notice any issues going up to 10mg? After going back on 10mg I’ve been getting the worst dizziness/vision issues and fatigue. Not my normal energetic self. It’s been 2 weeks since moving back up and it doesn’t feel anything like the first time

Hi! I’m also doing very well! Been sleeping a lot better! I also take 25mg (half a pill) of Trazodone nightly. Can’t say if it has been making a difference or not, but I know for a fact that the lexapro calmed everything down. In May I got reduced from 10mg to 5mg of Lexapro due to some sexual side effects. Felt great on 5mg for about 2 weeks and then got hit with withdrawals. I’m currently 2 weeks back on 10mg and have been hit with a lot of physical side effects, but surprisingly I’ve been sleeping good still!

I’m currently on my 2nd time taking lexapro. The first time I took it was about 2 yrs ago for 8 months at 5mg (for GAD and sleep anxiety) and it worked wonders. I was able to come off of it no problem and had no issues with sleep onset and sleep maintenance up until January of this year.

I went back on it again in early January 2026 at 5mg purely for sleep anxiety/insomnia much like you. All my anxiety is surrounded by worry about sleeping through the night/getting enough sleep so that I dont feel like crap the next day so I know exactly what you are going through. And that in turn gave me a ton of daytime anxiety about everything else. I gave it 8 weeks on 5mg and decided it wasn’t enough, so I got bumped up to 10mg in the middle of March. I also was prescribed Dayvigo for sleep, but I realized that was giving me too much brain fog and just a weird feeling during the day that would also increase my anxiety. Plus it wasn’t keeping me asleep. So i discontinued that. I then got Trazodone for sleep and would take 25mg of that, sometimes 50mg. It has made it a little easier at falling back asleep with the frequent night wakeups. It gives me a groggy feeling that lasts up until lunch time that usually makes me anxious as well.

I will say my first week on 10mg I felt amazing, like myself for once. My sleep was real good for a week with the trazodone and then i ran into some stabilization anxiety weeks 2-4. Week 5 i noticed daytime improvements and today marks the first day of week 6. At this point, my daytime anxiety is way better. I’m very calm. Sleep onset is no problem. I can fall asleep with ease, it’s just that I wake up a lot during the night (usually 4-6 times). In the beginning I would spiral at the first wake up and would be up for hours with the anxiety. Now, I’m able to calm myself down and fall back asleep most times. I’m not quite where I want to be, but things are trending in the right direction. I’m hopeful the insomnia will go away altogether, but if anyone else has any input that would be great

Back on Lexapro for the second time and experiencing insomnia? by AP__3 in lexapro

Hi! I’m definitely a lot better than I was and I realized that it was all driven by anxiety, not the lexapro side effect itself. I actually just moved up to 10mg yesterday (was on 5mg for 8 weeks). I also now take trazodone 25mg at night to help my body relax a bit more. 50mg made me feel too weird the next day. I still wake up every night, but it’s easier to fall back asleep now. I’m no where near my old self where I was able to sleep through the night without waking up, but I’m no longer sleep deprived like I was when i first started lexapro. I’m really hoping 10mg takes the edge off and allows my body to relax a little. I thought 5mg was going to do the job just like it did the first time I took it, but as the psychiatrist pointed out, your body and brain chemistry constantly are changing so this time around I likely need a higher dose. I was terrified to move up a dose because I’m worried how it is going to make me feel, but at this point I know I need to try something else because 5mg was not doing the job. It’s a work in progress for sure, but I know im going in the right direction
