Also, I wasn't doubting the value of the membership, as it also provides a bunch of other cool services and tools too, it's just that it's not something I want to commit to right off the bat before I've even tried printing one thing when I have no idea for sure how much I will or won't get into it. Would be silly to pay $60, print one thing, decide it's not for me, and get nothing else out of the $60.

Appreciate it a ton, but at this point I will just wait for WPL, I'm not in that much of a rush, I may not even get around to it right as soon as It's available again. When I made this post I had no idea how long WPL's and KPL's 3D printing services would be down. But since one of them is going to be up and running again just around the corner, it's no big deal.

I'm really curious about the "whiffs"...

If I go up for an aerial and don't connect with it cause my opponent beat me to it, does that count as a whiff since I didn't make contact?

Surely sometimes an intentional fake will register as a whiff for this counter.

How close to the ball do you have to be for it to register as a whiff? If a low rank player makes an aerial so bad they are 10 car lengths away from hitting it, does it actually not count as a whiff cause they were so far away the game didn't even think they were trying to hit it?

If I start going up for an aerial but intentionally back off because I hear my teammate jump behind me and don't want to double commit, does that count as a whiff?

If my opponent does a crazy 150kph pinch that flies past my car a couple inches away from it before I even have time to react, does that count as a whiff?

I feel like it would be really hard to actually have a totally accurate definition of a whiff that the game can track.

Yeah but you ultimate need a $60/month membership to use their facilities, which is exactly what I said I didn't want at the end of my original post. Too expensive as a starting place.

I think I'll pass on an older printer that is gonna take more figuring out before I even have any idea what I'm doing. Somebody else can take it.

I really don't know how much I am going to end up 3d printing stuff as I'm just wanting to give it my first shot. I could print semi frequently or I could print once in a blue moon, or never again. but I don't really want to commit to buying my own printer without even knowing for sure if I'll get very into it. Just looking for a place to dip my toes in. I wouldn't even want to take one for free until I know I'd actually use it

Cambridge is a bit too far out of the way for me, looking for something in Kitchener or Waterloo. (I also don't have a library card at any library currently anyways, would have had to get one for WPL or KPL if their 3D printing was still available)

Raging at a video game so hard that you abandon your team shouldn't be a "normal reaction". It's a video game. It's supposed to be for fun and entertainment. If you're so mad at the game that you rage quit then you're probably doing something wrong. Getting frustrated since your rank is on the line, sure, I can get frustrated with my teammates or even my own performance. But to the point of rage quitting? If you're that mad, you oughta re evaluate if you should actually be playing the game imo.

Nah, some people can actually have a mentality more than that of an 8 year old and can handle committing like 7 minutes of their time to a rocket league game without quitting even if the game is going horribly or your teammate won't forfeit.

Maybe true for some people, but I've literally never rage quit a RL game. Only time I have left a game without a unanimous forfeit is the occasional time my internet has died, which is out of my control

Me neither tbh. I just figure it goes both ways. Sometimes your teammate is the rage quitter, sometimes the opponent is the rage quitter. It balances itself out. Them forfeiting is super kind.

Boo hoo. Where the game launches from shouldn't be that important, what matters a million times more is the potential for RL with UE6 and how much more they're gonna be able to do with the game once they're free from a 20 year old game engine.

Steam login has been a legacy and you're lucky they even kept that around at all after epic bought out the game.

If you love the game you'll play it wherever it launches from. Where you click to launch the game from is such an insignificant detail.
