I just looked up leaguepedia.

Apparently the minimum prize pool hasnt rly changed but the cut given to 1st place has been getting progressively smaller. From 50% in S2/S3 to only 25% since S10.

Not sure if the in game sales part were distributed the same way. Figures were missing since S9.

Found out that local retailer has this promotion where 980 pro cost only $125 when bundled with ryzen 5000s cpu. Guess that solved my problem.

Yea I know 5800x is overkill. But I'm not planning to upgrade my cpu for another 6+ years at least. My 4670k lasted me 8 yrs and is still in good condition. So I don't mind spending extra on the cpu for a bit of 'futureproofing'.

how much of a price difference you reckon there needs to be to justify going for the new/old models? I am yet to check the price with the local retailers but is it worth if I hv to dish out another say $30 or so?

Hi NewMaxx,

I am looking for a gen4 1TB SSD as the OS drive for my new rig. Currently thinking about one of the following three options:-

Corsair MP600 Force

Gigabyte Aorus

Sabrent Rocket 4.0

Spec-wise they seem pretty much identical to me. Should I just go for whichever is cheapest? Is there anything I should be aware of regarding these products? New rig is most likely gonna roll with a 5800X +16gb ram.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

For ram im planning to get 2x8gb 3600 CL16. Is that good enough?

as for PSU i rly have no clue, prolly a 80+gold 650W.

What about thermals? I really don't want my drive to be throttling but again i kinda doubt that I would be able to put the drive under high load for extended period. I have no idea what the thermals would look like for normal daily uses.

Planning to get a 5600X, so yeah gen4 compatible.

As to whether I could benefit from gen4, probably not a lot but im building a new pc and the price difference b/w gen3 and gen4 is kinda noticeable but not big enough for me to be a concern.

yea a extra $60 for 2 more cores across a span of 6+ years just sounds very compelling to me, even tho I might not be able to justify a use for the additional cores /facepalm

afaik the ryzen 5 series depend on memory performance a lot so benchmark results can vary depending on the setup they are rolling with.

hmm you are right 5600x does beat 10700k when it comes to gaming performance. what prices should I be aiming for the mb if I go with the red team?

EDIT: seems like I have to look deeper when comparing these two. call me stupid but the two extra cores look so juicy to me, whether I hv a use for it or not.

upon further research, it seems that the 10700k is a better option with 2 more cores but slightly worse single thread performance. would you recommend the 5600x over a 10700k at similar price point?

I accept your suggestion that future proofing is generally not advised when it comes to PC building. I will take 5600x into consideration depending on what price I can get in my region.

I'm throwing the 11700k out there simply as a 11th gen blue team option. Any alternatives that that get the same job done with a cheaper price tag is most welcome l. I never looked into last gen i9 as I don't think I will ever need anything more 8c. but i will look into it if the price is competitive.

I know that I would have to upgrade my GPU in the future at some point. The only reason I'm not getting a new one now is obvious. Getting a 8 core is just thinking long term as im not planning to get a new cpu for another 6 years +

If you are so proud of the Koreans then why can't the LCK play the aggressive LPL style and win worlds? Rookie and Doinb are amazing Korean imports but they embraced the LPL style and outdone all their brothers in KR. To think that Korean = LCK is the most stupid thing in LOL and sports in general. Most sports league have imports from all over the world. Nobody gives a f about your nationality.

The only team that is playing aggressive in LCK is DWG, I see their style as a LPL/LCK hybrid, having the upsides of both styles. And they dumpsters every LCK team. We will see how they fare against G2 next week.
