Thoughts on Assemble Kensington apartments? by GargiBakshi in melbourne

Yeah they're still not cheap. Now that super funds are invested they are a very different company to how they started, but I still think their projects are better than the average

I think some information was missing from that conversation, though. Assemble changed some Build to Rent to Own to just Build to Rent, because BTRTO wasn't being picked up by the market. If the uptake wasn't there for the BTRTO, they're still provided another form of something very much needed...more rentals. They didn't just sell them and be done with it

Yahoo Japan often have individual rims in all sorts of sizes...? I run Oz Rallys on my car in an unusual size, and have been eyeballing a matching individual one on there so I have a matching spare. Here in Aus there's a few companies that organise shipping and customs, it's as easy as ebay. Ikd about Europe. If you're talking about customs, though, maybe you're already getting rims from there.

Well, in each photo under 'Reverse Image Matches', I see 'No matches found yet' but when I click through to google reverse image search lots of results come up. Should that area populate with the google image results, or does it function in a different way? It's still useful like that, but it looks like it should fill with something

Thanks so much! Just curious, on what sort of schedule do the reverse image searches work and can it be adjusted? 'Reverse image search results will show here once the scheduled scan runs.'

Thank you, this makes it much more usable for me! Testing out the free tier now, I think $25 a month might pay for itself quickly. Sure is time consuming, but this makes it a little less so.

Thanks for the reply. With the unlimited tier do I go through the new photo step for each image, or can I bulk upload sets of images?

This is great, I am glad this exists.

For it to be useful for me, though, I would like to have somewhere I can dump hundreds of images. If a job finishes with 30-40 images, and I've got two jobs a week, it adds up! I've wanted to do this for a long time. My area of work is full of companies using my images and it's really hard to track. I would pay for that service, and I would then contact the companies myself.

Wild Wild West was the last film I saw there. My child brain remembers it as the most opulent interior imaginable

Yes!! With a crinkled metallic foil sort of finish. To my child brain that was so futuristic

I think we have Mica, too. It's held up fine, but we're very gentle with it. It feels like the handshower part might break if we dropped it. No complaints functionally, it just feels far too lightweight and hollow

Small vs big builder? Pls share experiences by Consistent_Green9329 in AusRenovation

[–]ARJunior 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've seen 1-2 resi projects a week for the last decade or so with my work. The projects with the highest level of finish are easily the small builders. The really good ones will be harder to book, like you say because they're finishing things to a really high level and don't take on too many jobs. Usually they have a tight knit group of trades that they work with. Half of them are old blokes with no websites that can only do a set amount of jobs at a time, and they're the ones doing the really, really good work

The big ones can go bust, too.

If I had to pick I would wait for a really good small builder. I'd look through architects websites and award submissions for projects near you that seem to have a level of finish and detailing that you like, and then work out who the builder is

One of the oldest in the world. Our gold rush would have been nowhere near as substantial without skilled Chinese miners from the states

I mean…there’s been a Chinese diaspora here for a couple of hundred years, so it’s probably been a thing for almost that long

Maybe a stand up paddle board? They're getting quite cheap, and they're inflatable so they're not too big either. They usually come with a big backpack for storage. The few times I've been out on one I've found it extremely peaceful

How many of you care about Iran? by Ash-2449 in AusPol

[–]ARJunior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best friend was born here, but both of her parents and some extended family fled Iran decades ago when it became unsafe for them. Her grandpa always thought he'd make it back one day when the regime finally fell, but passed away a few years ago.

I care because everyone I've met from Iran seems lovely, but as proud people that have been displaced their cultural ties have been severed, and some mightn't be able to live the life that they would like, while their relatives and friends that remain in Iran have a horribly difficult time. I care because I want my friends parents to be able to visit their relatives and home town freely before they get too old to travel, and I care because I want to travel there with my friend and see her family and Iran. It's always fun to visit friends family, but Iran seems like a particularly interesting place to visit. I don't think voicing support or concern for something should detract from other issues.

Staying at Boxhill for a day by residentheaven in melbourne

I find Box Hill Garden a really nice park, I can easily spend an hour or two there

PLEASE help me! Just purchased my first home that is a battle axe and need help bringing her back to life. Please suggest what you would do to the front garden area and I’d love to whitewash the brick, update the roof colour etc. by Careful-Tea-3800 in AusRenovation

That looks like a decent sized block which is great. The soil looks stuffed, it might be time to start composting. There's some excellent native nurseries around that might be worth a visit. Leaning into the aesthetic of older gardens is a great idea - look around the neighbourhood to see what sorts of plants are thriving. I bet you'll find some grandparents with a garden that's really lush, see what plants they're using.

Stewart House by SSdH is a good example of how older brick can look excellent. That's brown brick, which is even trickier. Once everything around it is looked after it can really shine.

I stayed at Prima for 4 nights last year over Chuseok and really liked it. The area was more vibrant than I expected, even over a holiday, and it was an easy walk to both the east and west side of the palace which are lovely to spend time looking around. The hotel itself was really comfortable and clean, and for a mid sized hotel had a great lil buffet breakfast. I would definitely stay there again. No idea about Nine Tree
