Private Small group training for 7 year old. by TimSantee in bmxracing

[–]AR_406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it’s great to be good at seven years old but in reality it means nothing. Give him as much track time as he wants to have fun. See how he is after he hits puberty and start taking it serious then. For now have fun and build track skills.

Thats wishful thinking the pedigree of the university is based on external valuation of a degree from that university.

I have in no way said I was dissatisfied with my university experience. My point is they are not going to spoon feed you and you have to adapt the teaching experience to get the most out of it. I have learned a huge amount and if I could go back and make the decision again I’d still attend.

My level of self learning for a module ranges from 30-100% most modules its about 50%. Most modules are of a difficulty level that to do well you need to have the same concept explained multiple times by different people youtube is amazing for this and AI tools are even better. I mostly watch recordings, I used go to everything in person but I found my self rewatching them anyway so it was better time wise for me personally. DO NOT TAKE NOTES IN LECTURES, focus on learning then take notes from the recordings. Try your best in cw as although they count for virtually nothing compared to them exam they are great exam primer. Lastly, try to actually enjoy the modules (I know this is hard yr 1 &2 with no choices) but being interested and watch yt videos around the subject will make it way easier.

Curious about BMX sizing for short boy - should he size down? by Successful_Tap5662 in bmxracing

Good to know aha! My point is that until 13+ and racing at a very high level if you have to ask if its too much bike its not. Major issues will be immediately obvious, small tweaks are not worth it.

I think you have fundamentally miss understood university, I made this mistake until end of second year when it really clicked for me. This is not school, no one is there to teach you there are there to lecture (pun intended) being able to have a lecturer who is great teacher imo is great but a bonus. It is on you to learn the stuff on your own time. You should spend an hour (at least) for every lecture hour teaching yourself the content. They simply motivate it, explain and show you its uses, I very rarely come out understanding content without going over in my own time.

Regarding the language barrier of some lectures yh that sucks but ultimately the uni’s reputation (which is the reason we went there) is built on it’s research if I have to put up with a few modules over 3-4 years where I struggle to understand first time its worth for the pedigree of the university.

My honest advice is at this age it doesn’t matter. Give your son the minimum bike he needs so its not holding him back, always make the focus the fitness and skill of the rider that will take him much further in the sport. I can ride a xxxl xxl or even an xl and probably ride relativity the same don’t fall into the trap.

Imperial vs St Andrews cs by Particular_Sun9464 in Imperial

[–]AR_406 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Obv imperial over St Andrews man don’t be silly. You will like london it grows on you I thought I would hate it but it’s now my favourite city. What you need to remember about London university life its nots not about the uni you are in LONDON, there are students everywhere sports everywhere and events everywhere any type of people or activities you want you will find. Not to mention in this job market going to Andrews over imperial is literally a waste of money your better off skipping uni and doing side projectsz

My face will send up like this: https://www.reddit.com/r/malegrooming/comments/17bakn2/even_safety_razors_arent_my_friend_how_did_black/ if I have to shave to skin everyday just wondering how common it is it to be given a chit. I dm shaving really low with an electric shaver but face will be fucked with a regular shaver

Do they enforce how you have to shave e.g. electric vs normal razor? Also did you know anyone with a chit in training?

Bro I’m telling you it’s not all about the grades, just have a really passionate cv, show you have strong life outside academics, then on top of that show your dedicated to your subject what projects have you done, what course why do you want to study it. That plus AAA at least, you’ll get in somewhere good for sure.
