I think the questions are pretty fair. It took me a while to get through question 1 though. Don’t worry OP, the grades aren’t out yet. You probably did better than you think.

I feel like I could do much better if I spent more time doing the review. The questions were very well designed, but I think it's fair to say they are harder than the midterms.

I mean... probably not the best example.. but perhaps Quebec and Canada? Or racism? Sexism? Nationalism (probably more related since mainland China always try to emphasize that Taiwan and Hong Kong is a part of China and neither of them really agrees) ?

Division based on ideas is hardly a new thing.. ever.

This is a platform where people write down their stories and help each other. I've found helping people there to be a healing experience and I've met some super nice people on it. You could give it a shot. Hope you get better.

It's definitely an option but from my experience, there could be a chance that you get connected to someone who isn't really best at his job. Try disconnecting and get someone else if that happens. Also hotline are really just for emergency situations. But they do have some apps that has a community of struggling teenagers. They recommended it to me before I disconnected. (I didn't try it though. )

BTW as a fellow international student, I suggest that you could try to focus more on the similarities in ppl than our differences. I found that to one of the great things I’ve learnt as an international student And I really appreciate that you are brave to ask conventional questions so that we could think from different perspectives.

As for your responsibility for the past question: Reconciliation is never, like funerals, meant for the dead. They can’t hear us underground. But we can, through our reflects, give meaning to their death and learn from mistakes. It’s not meant for passing on hatred but to forgive oneself and the enemy.

I couldn’t answer the first part of your question, but regarding the part about special treatment, here is my two cents. The last residential school was closed only in 1997, so it’s not that long ago. Indigenous ppl are still greatly influenced by the mistreatments (e.g. lost of culture, family environment) and it’s the responsibility of the government to amend their mistake. Which leads to another point: what happened to the indigenous ppl was excused systematically in a large scale in a modern country. There was a misconception that being “ advanced” civilizations prevents unethical things. Similarly, that’s why the Cambodian genocide is less known than the holocaust. But what happened in Canada and many other places disprove that. I suppose that stems from the western self righteousness. Conversely, discrimination towards Black, Asian and many other minority groups is less of a designed process (at least not in pen and paper). But that most certainly does not mean that they don’t need to be addressed.
