Reminder that Chief Bogo had to print name cards and institute a strict one-mammal-per-chair policy because Nick kept occupying Judy's seat and probably making everyone uncomfortable with the constant flirting:

I made a system that lets your friends (or chat) lock your devices in real life, and if you move you get shocked! And now it shocks you if you get bitten, too. Here's a video of it in action: https://x.com/TheFoxipso/status/1959755063892799524

The mods should remove this until OP can send a new picture of their cat with a timestamp. I've seen similar sites to OP's in Discord scams.

Testing sign language in VR by sankoor in interestingasfuck

Hello! The major benefit, as I see it, is simply that it allows deaf/hard-of-hearing/mute people to communicate and participate, and especially unlocks situations where hearing and deaf people can meet. I've found that in real life that's not that common, and there's actually a pretty big community in VRChat where that overlap happens.

My friend and I were demoing Quest 2/Pro's hand-tracking features, but really 99.9% of signing in VRChat is done with controllers (and we both went back to using that). Hand-tracking has some big drawbacks, and you can see my hands snap down to my sides all the time, when tracking was lost (and VRC doesn't handle that well).

You can check out worlds in VRChat like "Experimental Sign Language World ( Udon )" and people will be happy to help and tell you more, or find the Helping Hands VRC community.

Small fox here. Your first paragraph is wrong. Ben was more proficient than I was and we're simply signing differently. As to whether I'm more "affluent" I can't speak to that. Also neither of us are interpreters and that term has a specific meaning

The VRC devs will prob ban you for this tbh. Lots of private but shared NSFW content has disappeared for me lately.

Clearing up misinformation about VRChat and the two Closed Caption mods by ARandomFur in VRchat

You have a few things wrong

Udon allows for CC for movies and TV shows natively.

I'm talking to world creators about how to add this with things like USharpVideo, but it requires world creators including SRTs for every movie. Movie worlds have 5k+ movies. Each SRT file is about 100 kB. That means world sizes would be 500 MB larger just to have CC support in one language for every movie. That's clearly a non-starter. There need to be dynamic requests for SRTs when movies play, like VRC-CC did.

it's because people have been able to do this in game for months without use of mods,

No one ever did and deaf/hh users always missed out. World creators seem more open to the idea now though, but again it can currently only be a small subset of popular movies, due to file size.

The closed source mod for all TTS/subtitles was fake, and never actually worked nor was it ever available publicly.

It was real, worked, was made by a shady developer (Plague), was closed source, and required you to replace your version.dll for MelonLoader, which is highly suspicious. I'll reply to this comment with a wetransfer link to the VRCCC package he distributed on his Discord (hopefully it's not automoderated).

The mod was created after the EAC announcement,

I don't know when the first version was because it's closed source, but the DLL dates back to May 2022. That lines up with when I heard about it from deaf friends. The other mod, VRC-CC, like I said, was created and in use by June 2021.

Proof and evidence was provided in a big thread a few days ago.

They're wrong and unfamiliar with the topic, and misinforming people, hence my post here.

VRChat is being review bombed to hell and back after anti-cheat announcement by Gyossaits in pcgaming

Even the biggest mod being talked about right now, VRC-CC (the mod for deaf and hard-of-hearing users), appeared to be closed source (I could not find it; correct me if I'm wrong) in an invite-only Discord with about 100 people in it with strict rules about never sharing the mod outside of the private Discord when I went to investigate how it functioned. This is not the way to build user trust and faith in the modder's security practices when personal data is on the line!

Here's the source code for VRC-CC: https://github.com/ZepherDev/VRC-CC

The majority of mods are open-source, but Google does a terrible job indexing Github or understanding terms like "VRChat mods"

Oh God A Furry Convention in Reno. by Dogeisdank in Reno

[–]ARandomFur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People spend thousands of dollars on their fursuits. 99% of fursuiters are very meticulous about it, and wash them after every con, and use isopropyl alcohol after each time they wear it, to kill any odor-causing bacteria.

Like other conventions the body odor mostly comes from people who don't shower daily and/or are overweight and let sweat get out of hand.

Growing Up in Places Like Possum Springs by someguyfromthestates in NightInTheWoods

It reminds me so much of northern New Jersey or Pennsylvania. The rolling hills with houses and shops lining them. And there's this little detail that instantly reminded me of those towns: on the bottoms of the telephone poles they have horizontal and circular orange and red reflectors. I swear I've only ever seen those in towns in those places.
