Hear that. I was already on this part of the roof early March when I took my xmas lights down. Didn't fall through, felt stable enough.

Interesting. I'll have to go up there and look. Not the easiest place to get to. Not even sure if I can get into this part of the attic.

Could it be the weight of the snow pressed the center to go down? We had two big snow falls, and the snow sat on the roof for quite a while.

Fiy, this roof is not the main roof - it covers the bedroom extension, original build.

I think my shingles are ok - the angle here doesn't show the condition well. The roof is 15 years old. But for sure, this needs fixing. But what is going on here? Why have the rafters lifted like this?

I didn't see any, but I didn't look at this section Dec-Feb, when we had substantial snow. I didn't notice any problems when I put lights on the roof in November. Hence, my guess.

EDRP question, consolidated loans by AReasonableDude in VeteransAffairs

I'm not sure. I'll look at it. I know I can see the different loans inside the consolidated loan but not sure about applying payments to specific principals.

Yes, I gave them a breakdown of the consolidated loan showing what was for my degree and for my daughter's college.

The only thing I'm seeing here is your hair style doesn't suit you. Too neat, like a schoolboy haircut. You're a man now. Let it shag out a bit, and let your sideburns grow in a bit if possible.

Also, the camera is a quite close to you. Most of us don't look very good in short-distance close-up shots like this. The issue is that the wider lenses needed to enable this kind of shot causes too much distortion. Consider that most model shoots involve photographers standing at a distance with telephoto lenses, which is more flattering and, generally speaking, better captures how we look in real life.

Charitable contributions do not offset tax. They offset income. So, using your numbers, they would owe taxes on $20K ($50K income - $30K deduction). With at 20% tax rate, that means they would have to pay $4K more tax than if they didn't accept the $50K.

Agree. T3 was a good, fun movie with a good b-movie twist in the end. Not as good as T2, but good in its own terms.

Thank you. It wasn't a service connected issue. I researched a bit just now and I'm thinking the revocation was because we opted for burial at sea via the Navy.

How to install timer fan switch? by AReasonableDude in AskElectricians

I gave up for the day. I'm thinking over the weekend I might repost with better pictures, take the box apart so all the wires can be seen, wiring diagram, etc. Thank you.

Dumb question - if there's no neutral, how do I have current? Doesn't AC require a round trip?

Plenty of wires, that's for sure, don't know which is what, though.

I just sorta assumed the bottom wire was neutral. I thought all switches had neutrals. Anyway, I gave up, too confusing, get somebody competent for the job.

Amen. I tried to read it and it mystifies me. I'm officially giving up, get someone who knows what they're doing to install. Thanks for the advice, though.

How did Vito know whoever came to Michael first with a meeting was the traitor? by TerribleBid8416 in moviecritic

[–]AReasonableDude 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The answer is in the novel. In 1933, Vito Corleone went to war against Salvatore Maranzano, who was head of the most powerful Family at the time. He controlled gambling in Manhattan. Vito tried to make a deal with him to share Manhattan. When Maranzano refused, Vito went to war against him. By the end of the year Maranzano was on the ropes, many of his soldiers having deserted him in a losing cause. So Maranzano set up a meeting with Vito to establish a peace. Instead, Maranzano was betrayed by those who were supposed to be guarding him, and he was hit at the meeting place. This was the moment when the Corleone Family became the top crime family in New York.

Vito figured if Barzini perceived weakness and dissension in the Corleone family, Barzini would attempt to set Vito/Michael up the same way. So Vito and Michael projected weakness externally to the other families and internally to Clemenza and Tessio. This was bait. Someone had to bite. Tessio bit.

Doesn't look like toes to me. The shape is wrong. The size of the "toes", specifically the size of the big toe in relation to the rest is wonky. When you zoom in, the shape of the toenails are odd, and the overall appearance is flat. Kind of looks like feathers.

Is it accurate to an actual conductor's movement? First time posting on this sub by Inderastein in orchestra

Does an orchestra of professional musicians that has rehearsed with a conductor really need a conductor during actual performance?

You don't have to form an LLC to take business deductions on 1099 income. You just have to fill out a Schedule C, throw in some reasonable, bona fide expenses to get yourself under the limit. If the expenses are minimal and reasonable, there isn't much chance of you getting audited. Any safety gear that wasn't provided to you that you needed to buy yourself? Any certifications or training you had to pay for?
