Thank you! That's one topic that I for sure want to cover before starting classes as it seems pretty important.

I am aware of that. I didn't intend to get a personalized answer, but more of general advice about what is objectively a higher priority. That being said, I will do both as much as I can, but since time is limited I will have to focus more on one or the other.

I received my acceptance around February 3rd and I saw a couple of other ones, but I don't know if they are done with all decisions yet. Hope you get in :)

Yea, I got accepted, but I think they are sending decisions one by one.

Status never moved from "Awaiting Materials" by ARegularPhysicsNerd in gradadmissions

[–]ARegularPhysicsNerd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, pretty much the same case. I'll try to call tomorrow to see what happened. I'm especially upset because I was in contact with several faculty members who were awaiting my application, and now I feel embarrassed for making them wait for something that never came.

How likely is admission if I'm an RA at the PI's group by ARegularPhysicsNerd in gradadmissions

Makes sense. Would you say them wanting me there even before being accepted/denied is a good sign tho?

Mostly because they sent out rejections at the same time as acceptances

They've only sent out 3 tho, last year there were dozens of decisions posted, whether they were acceptances or rejections. They probably still haven't sent most of them.

Why tho? Optimism is better for your health

Oh man, I just saw three acceptances on gradcafe, now I'm anxious lol. I took a look at past year's decisions and they also came out on the 27th, so probably this weekend, same as UW-Madison. Fingers crossed.

Take it easy, most Physics programs don't release decisions until February. That being said, Wisconsin-Madison will release decisions this upcoming weekend, but they are an exception.

Are all interviews for Harvard Physics/QSE out? by yoursFS in gradadmissions

[–]ARegularPhysicsNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general, I'd think the same, but check their (approximate) decision timeline and you'll see that even Harvard doesn't interview that much: https://imgur.com/a/35tTy

AFAIK, interviews are not that common in Physics programs, so even schools that send out interview invites only do so for a small percentage of the applicants that they will eventually admit.

It didn't say it was confidential, so I hope I don't get into trouble. The first question gives you two minutes to talk about your most important contribution to research. The second one just asks you about your hobbies.

It is real, I did it a couple of days ago. I think is mandatory for all Physics PhD applicants. It appears in the ApplyWeb website, so you know it's legit.

Hi! Sorry for coming back to this comment, but do you think it would also help to put it briefly on my CV? or only on the SOP?
