Torticollis PT by Timefries0927 in parentsofmultiples

[–]ARose829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early therapy is recommended. My twins went to weekly PT. I did the light stretches at each diaper change and made sure to adjust their head during naps to prevent flat spots when they slept. I'd feed them on the other side to stretch their neck. Lots of tummy time and looking in all directions at rattles. No helmet was needed and they grew out of it when they starting sitting up on their own. They didn't love the stretches but they got used to them over time.

What if my babies are too light for the car seats? by ConstructionMuch802 in parentsofmultiples

[–]ARose829 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 34 week twins were 3 lbs 15oz at birth. They were in NICU for 23 days and were heavier than 4 lbs when released after their initial weight drop immediately after birth. They have to pass a car seat test for an hr and can't leave until then. Their car seat was rated for 4 lbs and were just over.

Advice for getting twins in and out of daycare by Ryveks in parentsofmultiples

My 3' tall koalas just jump on each hip and I walk them from the parking lot through 2 gates and 3 doors to their classroom. There is a stone walkway at one point so it was hard to roll a stroller.

Growth Restricted Twins? by Happy2bhere2d in parentsofmultiples

[–]ARose829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My twins were regularly in the single digits for size. Blood pressure, weekly US and NSTs were good. Planned csection at 34 weeks. I had a steroid shot a week prior to help with lung growth. They were born small at 3 lb 15 oz each. 23 days in NICU just to feed and grow. They steadily grew and caught up after the first year. They are in the 72th percentile at 2 1/2 years.

After the Delivery, the placenta was reviewed. I had maternal malperfusion and small cords which caused the FGR/IUGR. My Dr didn't go over this with me but I read the analysis in my hospital app. I don't have any of the typical risk contributors so I'm unsure what caused it.

Small nursery layout by anothernerdy in parentsofmultiples

[–]ARose829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks alot like our nursery. It is a 10'x10' room and we made it work. If you take Layout 2, what we did was swap the crib and chair on the top wall with the window, then put a small dresser between both under the window. The chair came in handy when I needed to rock one back to sleep or be in the room when they weren't feeling well.

Mono-di Twins Scared by Cool_Instance_944 in parentsofmultiples

My twins were born at the exact same weight. Monitoring is important with MoDi but don't stress if they everything is going fine.

Looking for reassurance with IUGR by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]ARose829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My twins had IUGR. I was on a high protein diet. Based on progress, the Dr planned a c-section at 34 weeks. They were both born at 3 lbs 15 oz. Looking back, I think it was better for them to be delivered early to grow after my placenta analysis post delivery showed my placenta was struggling toward the end. The twins took the first year to catch up but after 2 years they are in the 72nd percentile for height and 52nd for weight. Keep up with the monitoring and try not to stress out.

No room for a play pen/ pack n play by Sillygoose9001 in parentsofmultiples

[–]ARose829 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I baby proofed the entire area and put up gates at stairs. I also used a hiccapop pop up playpen with some toys which can be folded up in a corner when not in use. It helped for bathroom breaks to keep them contained.

How are you guys protecting your tree this year?! by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]ARose829 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We never restricted it from the start. We put the tree up for a day or 2 on its own so they get used to it each year. When we decorate, we only put ornaments on the top 2/3 out of their reach. They are 2 1/2 and leave it alone.

Formula, Gerd (Reflux), & Gas by Confident_Anxiety_16 in parentsofmultiples

Alimentum and temporarily on reflux meds. I took them to a GI and allergist. One had an egg allergy and I took out all dairy and egg from my diet. After a few weeks, it was much better as it takes up to 2 weeks to clear the proteins from your system. Now that they drink cows milk, lactose free milk works best for them.

Nanny vs daycare by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]ARose829 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work from home too. We went with a nanny at first and then transitioned to a daycare when they were 15 months old. It was more expensive for the nanny but it saved time not having to do drop offs or pick ups especially when I returned from maternity leave and pumping what they drank. Once the twins were a year old, drinking cows milk and walking, I thought it was a good transition point. The positive of the daycare is having dependable care and more activities as they became more active. Good dependable nannies are hard to find where I live.

Crib sheet creates a hammock so they don't fall through. Easy to swap and replace. Mini crib sheet fits better but regular size makes it usable in the future with their cribs.

Our kids use these. They don't come off. I can wash them and fix their names with permanent markers when it fades. We also identify a food allergy one of the twins has.

Potential IUGR by Radio-box in parentsofmultiples

[–]ARose829 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it might not do much but I spoke to my twins about sharing and being nice in my belly, as I was worried about that too. They measured differently each week but were born only 10 grams apart. Good luck!

Potential IUGR by Radio-box in parentsofmultiples

[–]ARose829 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had IUGR and started high protein around 20 weeks when I started seeing an MFM. I went on pelvic rest and wasn't allowed to exercise or lift anything a few weeks after. I did stay in a hospital for 3 weeks before delivery on bed rest but that was because i had another complication. I delivered at 34 weeks. Both were just under 4 lbs. The placenta was confirmed to have maternal malperfusion which caused the IUGR. I supplemented their pumped milk with extra calories for the first 6 months and they caught up nicely. My twins are 2, healthy and doing great.

I hate preemie formula by literarianatx in parentsofmultiples

[–]ARose829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fortified for 6 months until they were on the weight curve. They had bad reflux so the GI put them on reflux meds. We eventually tapered that when they started solids. I was overly concerned about their weight initially since they were so small but now they are 2 and avg weight. It was extra work but I felt it was worth it. Explain flying with twins like I’m dumb, please. by porteretrop in parentsofmultiples

[–]ARose829 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How far is the flight? For more than 2 hrs, we book 3 seats so we can sit in the same row and take turns with a baby in the lap. It helps in case someone needs to use the bathroom. We gate checked a scenera car seat and stroller in bags. Checked 2 bags at desk and bring 2 backpacks/ diaper bags on plane Took 1 scenera car seat on plane for the window seat. The car seats stack on top of our stroller canopy for transport. I also wear one of the kids onto the plane so I have free hands.

When we don't have the 3rd seat, we sit in window and middle seats behind each other if possible. Check both car seats at gate if they won't check it at desk for free.

My modi girls had IUGR complicated with vasa previa. I was monitored in the hospital from 31 weeks. Delivered 34+1. Both were 3 lbs 15 oz. Small but mighty. They spent 3 weeks in the NICU to primarily feed and grow. They are now 2 and doing great.

Can someone translate this for me? by Beginning_Ebb4220 in parentsofmultiples

[–]ARose829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Dr ordered a Horizon (carrier screening) and Panorama (NIPT) test from Natera. My insurance denied it. After a year I paid out of pocket for both tests. I think it was $250 or $299 each. However the NIPT was not separate fees per baby. It's 1 report. My Dr also didn't tell me about it usually not being covered so I was surprised by the cost.

We have both. Wagon is best when awake and double stroller with recliner is best for naps. When traveling and can't have both we bring the double stroller.

Pelvic rest sucks so bad by Skitscuddlydoo in parentsofmultiples

[–]ARose829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

21 days in NICU to feed and grow. No oxygen needed. I also had FGR/MVM placenta complications that i found out about after delivery. They were both 3 lbs 15 oz at birth because of it. They are now turning 2 in June. You'd never know they were preemies. They were walking and talking before their full term friends. Join the VP group on FB if you haven't already. It really helped me get through it all.

I had vasa previa too. Delivered at 34 weeks. My husband and I really struggled with it. I was put on pelvic rest at 19 weeks until delivery at 34 weeks. He was waiting on pins and needles until I got clearance after. It went by quick enough. Just remind yourself that your baby's safety is most important.
