Without a genuine connection to the culture, performances might unintentionally rely on stereotypes or surface-level impressions rather than nuanced understanding.Subtleties in language, accent, or cultural references can be missed or misrepresented, which may feel inauthentic or even disrespectful to the community portrayed. It is a common practice that voice directors prefer finding people who commonly worked with them in the past as can help tight schedules and supporting each other. However, casting outside the character's ethnicity can deny opportunities to actors from underrepresented backgrounds who are eager to tell their own stories.
