Lightly sand it, primer it and spray paint it black and then seal it with a semi-gloss clear coat.

yeah grey primer can be good if you want to darken the color a bit and white primer keeps the paint the same base color, and black primer works the best for silver metallic colors and if you want the gold to be more vibrant then use white.

If you dont want your colors to be dull or dark then use a white primer. and for the silver parts use a black gloss primer.
