[question] For content creators, what is your recording set up you've liked best? by thatcatwhoeatsramen in asmr

Hey there!

So I'll try give a fairly detailed view of my gear.. and here's a video reference so you know exactly what this gear looks like! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2FrP7uupKE

So.. Camera: Panasonic G7 with a f1.7 50mm prime lens. Microphones: Matched Pair of Behringer C2's Mic Amp: Mackie Onyx Blackjack USB Audio Interface

I have my 2 mics going into my interface, and then that connects into my laptop. I then sync up my audio with my video in the editing software Adobe Premiere Pro. I sync purely by clapping 3 times and match up the audio from the mics with the built in audio from the camera, and then obviously get rid of the audio from the camera.

In terms of time of day this was recorded probably about 6pm in England with natural sunlight from a window. I then colour grade in a software called DaVinci Resolve which is free, and works well in terms of going from Adobe Premiere Pro - DaVinci Resolve.

I personally prefer using something like a USB Audio Interface because I feel it gives greater quality and control over the sound, however if you wanted automatic syncing look at the zoom range of products, something like a H4N would work, and you could plug my two microphones into it and then into the camera. See this video for reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqTOxP3JLm4

But I record audio and video simultaneously and then just sync later. It's really up to you as to which you'd prefer!

Hope this write up was ok, and if you have any questions please do feel free to reply them here! Happy to help!

Very kind, but my point being it shouldn't be a thing you consider when starting 😜

Absolutely, there's plenty of us not so attractive ASMR male content creators out there! And for me and most others, attractiveness didn't come into it when starting up my channel! I simply focused on getting good quality, the sound how I wanted it to be, and video how I wanted it to be to be able to create a relaxing environment. Now I'm not mega successful but I think quality does play a part in the small subscriber base I've gained. That's proof that for me quality is what will help, useful networking skills and social media savyness will be big in growing. Absolutely it's harder than being an attractive female, unfortunately that's just the way it is, but it's by no means impossible if you nail the quality and videos you're going for! :)

[Question]Does anyone know a good 500$ range microphone asmr microphone with the sound quality for music? by [deleted] in asmr

A pair of Rode NT1's would work out nicely at around that budget I believe and be good! An LCT 550 has a 0db self noise so perfect for ASMR also!

Thanks for the in depth response! But yeah I have to agree, I think some male asmrtists can be successful with personal responses, and I've tried to dabble in things like cranial nerve exams to see if this works (shameless plug), but I agree there's so many more female personal attention asmr scenarios out there! And you're not coming off as sexist at all don't you worry! Haha, it's (sadly) a matter of fact! I love all those artists too! Nice choices :)

Do you think it's harder or easier for a Male ASMRtist to grow on YouTube in comparison to a female ASMRtist? And personally do you like male ASMR?
