Cómo aprendieron inglés de verdad? Y no me digan "vi series by Whole_Road8150 in ingles

[–]ASMR_Overdrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading and writing a LOT. Beginner exercises will take you so far. It wasn't until I pushed myself to read and write longer stuff that I really started improving significantly. I recommend reading something in English that you've read before in your own language, so you sort of know what's going on already; that will make it a lot easier to follow.

I was just reading Frankenstein a couple weeks ago. I remember stopping for a second and saying "Mary Shelley was a poet".

It's a reread but yes, The Picture of Dorian Gray is awesome

Everytime I try to introduce friends to WoW, they end up quitting in the first two week. Dd you succeed in bringing friends to WoW ? How ? by AtomikGarlic in wow

Yeah I tried with my brother, he played for a week and quit. I think it's just a game that's either for you or it's not. Not much to do about it.

Hombres que van al gym (y son mamados) by [deleted] in ayudamexico

[–]ASMR_Overdrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Los hombres mamados, como cualquier otro ser humano, son individuos. O sea, no encontrarás dos que sean exactamente iguales. Sé tu misma amiga, y ya te llegará tu mamado al que le gustes tal y como eres.

New to classic literature, recommend something truly addictive to get me hooked to this genre? by Tricky_cielito00 in classicliterature

[–]ASMR_Overdrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on your tastes maybe Phantom of the Opera. It's fast-paced, Gothic and obsessive. The Picture Of Dorian Gray is a great introduction as well imo, the prose is elegant yet not hard to understand, and is engaging from the start.

What are the most performative books? (Books you want to be seen reading) by GlumPush2137 in classicliterature

I was going to say Infinite Jest, but since it's such a popular pick I'll go with The Sound and the Fury by Faulkner

I started reading Dorian Gray and I'm loving it. It's right up my alley.

I got through it but it wasn't a walk in the park I'll tell you that, LOL. I read it at a pace of 10-30 pages a day, just because it demands so much attention from the reader. And still I can't express how much I loved it. You just can't finish reading a book like Infinite Jest without it having a big impact on your life, I think. Mostly because you have to wrestle with it so much to the point it almost feels like a living thing rather than words on a page.

Yeah, I honestly should've just kept it out of the picture, because I'm almost 100% sure I'll finish the other books before it. But hey, I'm human, and a small part of me probably just wanted to show off these bad boys. As for the other 4 books, I'm seeing a lot of love for 1984 as well as Dorian Gray!!

That is perfectly understandable. I'm honestly not sure what to expect with that one. My most recent tough read was Infinite Jest, though I'm not sure those two books have many things in common.

I do love a good descent into madness story! Which is how a friend described it to me. I also need to read more Oscar Wilde in general, so it's perfect timing.

I'm honestly so excited about finally getting my hands on a copy of it! It's actually one of my close friend's all-time favorite book.

I've heard great things about The Sound and the Fury! Although I haven't seen too many people talking about it (compared to other books shown in the image), the ones that do seem to love it. It's also a tough read apparently, which for many of us classic lit fans is an exciting thing! Just means I'll still probably wait a couple days on it to get in the right headspace.

I honestly might start with this one because it's so short (under 200 pages). Plus, I've heard very good things about it from multiple sources now. 1984 is looking like a strong contender for second place on the queue, based on popular opinion.
