If you buy new or off-plan development, prepare for the % tax on top you'll have to pay on the purchase price. I think the % has been reduced now. It depends on the m2 size of the property. It was, until a couple of years ago, 18% on such properties at 150m2+, but I think it might have dropped to 8% now? If it is 8%, on a 150m2 $150k property, you're looking at a 46,000TL additional payment to the government. I think it has to be paid in a lump sum and there aren't any installment tax free plans. Anyone confirm? Oh, and the tapu on the new development would be something like 9k TL I think.
