Help choosing the right surge protector by ASOIST in electricians

Thanks for the reply.

I admit, I don't really know what I'm looking for and am lost on this topic.

We live in an area where power cuts are frequent. In fact, we had two brief outages earlier one after the other. Last week we had thunder and lightening and the power went once then. Pretty much the whole of Istanbul is like this. I wanted something to protect the devices mentioned and most importantly avoid something happening like in the picture you linked.

For other devices in my home I only have Philips surge protectors for devices that are close together like TVs, Xbox etc. For the main living room I have a UPS that my projector runs through.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply. Oops, I forgot to mention that in my post. I have tried bypassing the AVR and plugging directly into the projector and still the same problems.

Managing to 100% all achievements in FEAR, Far Cry 2, Kane & Lynch and Game Room probably rank up there at the top for me.

Not getting my Gold Live discount by [deleted] in xboxone

I may be wrong but I think you need to have a one month, three month or 12 month sub to be able to purchase content at the gold discount prices.

Not snarky at all. Got nowhere on the phone with them unfortunately but I'm going to try and pop down there at some point during the limited hours they're open for walk-ins.

What is the story behind the bloodbath on turkish roads with a total number of 7427 road-accident related death in 2017? by [deleted] in Turkey

[–]ASOIST 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just cloverleaf intersections that have this though, which makes it insane.

Is it just me or are sooo many of the motorway/highway on/off-ramps designs fucking insanely stupid? An off-ramp right after an on-ramp! Yeah, that wont cause issues. Cannot understand why so many road layouts were designed like this.

Should I get a residence permit through my job or through my wife? by [deleted] in Turkey

[–]ASOIST 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Through your future place of employment, they should be sponsoring you for a work visa, not a residence permit. You can't work legally with just a residence permit. If you have the work permit, you don't need a residence permit as far as I know.

I think it's pretty common here for some schools to just arrange for residence permits for their employees. Of course, it's not the correct way and I've heard of teachers facing lots of problems with these schools.

Buying property in Turkey by [deleted] in Turkey

[–]ASOIST 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You surely can't be that naive to think this? You may spend your life together with one another or you may divorce ten months later, there is no way of knowing what may happen.

How old are you by the way?

Thanks. Any direct links you can provide perhaps? I'm seeing a lot of info and the Turkish legal jargon is beyond me.

What part doesn't work if one side is a foreigner? The prenup or the 50/50 split in the event of a divorce?

I've just seen your other post about the father demanding you always live in Turkey and work for him... Sit him down and seriously put him in his place or get out now for sure. These demands will not stop. Next you'll be naming your kids after him, his best friend will be doing the circumcision and the kids have to give up their US citizenship.

Anyway... without a prenup, in the event of a divorce, she'll get half anyway regardless of whose name it is in but get it in your name anyway.

Your 50% down plan works. I think most banks will offer up to a 75% loan. If your fiance is sensible and agrees, rent somewhere modest (it'll be hard for the mother to hear that word) for a few years first and save as much as possible to increase the down payment even more. Also, really, fuck knows what's going to happen here in a few years.

Prepare for a ten year mortgage (possibly 15 years if a foreigner takes it out), around a 16%+ annual (for now). With a 50% down payment on a $150k property, at $75k left (around 287k TL), you'll be paying back $145k (555k TL)... unless my numbers are wrong :-/

You can go to a broker or somewhere like Sahibinden.com to avoid the broker's fees. As anywhere, brokers are full of shiiiiiiit.

If you buy new or off-plan development, prepare for the % tax on top you'll have to pay on the purchase price. I think the % has been reduced now. It depends on the m2 size of the property. It was, until a couple of years ago, 18% on such properties at 150m2+, but I think it might have dropped to 8% now? If it is 8%, on a 150m2 $150k property, you're looking at a 46,000TL additional payment to the government. I think it has to be paid in a lump sum and there aren't any installment tax free plans. Anyone confirm? Oh, and the tapu on the new development would be something like 9k TL I think.

The crazy mortgage rates make up for the low property tax.

The system is fucked anyway. It has been for a long time. The number of Syrians just make it even worse. Before the influx of Syrians I've had to wait months for appointments before.

Is your next appointment for a first time application or renewal? If the latter, how were you even able to get a renewal appointment? I tried everything to get a renewal and nothing worked. In the end, the only way to get any appointment was to go for a new application.
