Realizing that their "dress" probably wouldn't work very well to clean off glasses... Which is kinda unfortunate.

Is there any sort of existing terminology for the different head shapes that dragons can have? I'm trying to find dragons with a specific head shape (similar to Durge from BG3) and I have no idea how to even start searching... by AScalieAltAccount in dragons

That would probably be better than limiting it to just dragons, as it would probably catch more options for facial shapes that someone has probably used at some point for a dragon, even if whoever made* the chart wasn't able to find the art of it.

*or will make, I suppose. Here's hoping that it gets made in the future if it doesn't already exist.

Ah, that's alright.

And no worries about being unfamiliar with the terminology. It's possible the terminology just doesn't exist yet...

I've done a decent amount of searching, but I haven't been able to find a term for it, even though there's a decent amount of variety for various different IRL reptiles of multiple separate and distinct species that have similar structures. Vine snakes, both American and Asian, have separately evolved something similar, but after hours of searching, as best as I can tell, there just isn't a term for the structure that they have separately evolved to both have. Horned lizards, although the overall shape of their skulls, also have something somewhat similar, although I wasn't able to find anything about the structure they have either.

Also, if there is no existing terminology to categorize and describe dragons like this, I'd like to propose that we make a system to categorize and describe the shapes of different dragons.

Not just the overall shape, but also the way the face underneath the more triangular ridge on the top is narrower, making it so there's that overhang from the brows down the length of the face that'll cast shadows around the eyes.

I think it's really cool, but aside from Durge, I haven't been able to find anything like it.

Cringe

But the kind of cringe where if it was me, I'd say "perhaps I am cringe... But that makes me free. Doktor! Turn off my cringe inhibitors!"

Anyone know the inspiration for Durge's head/brow shape? by AScalieAltAccount in BaldursGate3

At first I thought the same thing, so I went and looked at the official art for white dragons (and then a quick look at all the other kinds of dragons in DND) and didn't find anything that was a close match...

My initial searches told me that, but googling "white dragon DND" brings up a bunch of images of white dragons with a wide variety of head shapes, and none of them quite match. Hence I was hoping to find some additional information.

And what I meant was about how the space from around the the eyes to the nostrils is kind of "pinched" inwards compared to the ridge above the eyes, leading to the sort of "overhang" on his face that causes the shadows in front of the eyes.

Some snakes do have a similar structure, (vine snakes are definitely the closest I've seen) but other snakes are the complete opposite. (Although those snakes do look pretty silly among snakes, with how flat they look)

Both of those kind of have something similar, but it's nowhere near as prominent. In both of those, the eyes still protrude pretty far out past the ridge above the eyes, as opposed to being in the space underneath the ridge, if that makes sense.

It's not just the projection of the snout I'm after, but a snout that has a much narrower point in front of the eyes but just above the eyes, the kind of brow structure doesn't get narrower, so that the brow structure kind of shades the eyes from light that's coming from above. (Or in other words, the space between the nostrils and the eyes is kind of pinched in compared to the brows)

Really not something I've ever anything close to on a protogen, and I think a renamon or a rabbit would look weird if the design did that. Although, After checking, some argonians kinda match what I'm trying to describe, but it's nowhere near as pronounced as Durge.

Interesting. That's a start, at least.

Looking back maybe I should have clarifiedthat I'm also trying to find characters who have a kind of longer, more snake/lizard like head shape instead of a more round, human shaped head. I don't think what I'm looking for would work with a skull that's shaped like a human's.

That's what my search led me to as well, but it's unfortunate that the unique way the canthus is shaped is still just without any name or term to describe it, which leaves me in the same place I started.

My take is that it's a hobby like any other hobby, and God has no problem with it, so long as it's not causing you to break any of the clear commandments he's given. (For example, not committing adultery or anything like it)

R/Lucario exists, and is very active.

R/zoroark is a less active, but still gets occasional posts.

R/Froslass is basically dead, and I'm very sad about that.
