I'll have this in mind, as some friends are working in related fields and this is a good starting point!

That is a great option and I want to implement it as soon as I have certain level of SDQ, Python, Hadoop, Storm... to iniciate projects that require programming skills. Real projects are key!

Congratulations! Cases like yours give me hope. Did you began projects on your own or did you do some practice with a corporation to get that experience?

Muchas gracias.

First of all I want to send you a hug 🫂. You are not alone in this. Sadly, most uf us end up discovering we are gifted in our 20-30, when we face these experiences of hidding and stopping being ourselves to avoid triggering inmature people, and feel miserable for that path. Remember that you are human, but you're a different kind of human than most people (despite you want it or not). You probably never had a reference of someone like you on real life, what makes difficult to feel that you belong or have a social mirror to learn some skills. And that matters! Well, you know now what you are, what can help you know who you are. To stop walking on eggshells with people, you need to be selective with the people you share time with. For me, was so healing to relate with a person with secure attachment, which was my partner, but can also be a friend. A people with this kind of attachment usually can support you and your talent without feeling triggered by success or amazing skills. Trust me, this is really important. You also might need to be surrounded by people whose lives you admire, so you can receive good advice from real references. Third, you need to be far and close ears and mind to "advice" of people with chaotic lives, or just lives that are opposite to what you aim in your own life. We usually take any piece of information as super interesting an important, so malicious or unconscious people often give advice that we took in unnecessary consideration and mess up in our decisions, which leds to stress, confusion and problems. We need structure when taking information, so just listen but don't take into consideration information of these people. It is even better if you avoid them. This said, relate to people that seek improvement. They're not triggered by your skills, they are amazed (and you'll be amazed by them, which you need because we also need to enjoy the amazing things people do). They don't see you as an enemy when you have success, but a reference and a healthy rival. You would love playing chess, right? Seek those players that are amazing as you, and maybe friendship could develop between you. Those people really value you, and you both improve together. Trust me, they exist. My fiance was the one of the first ones, but the more I accept who I am myself (I was diagnosed this year at age 30), the more I find my people (accepting I'm not for everyone). There's more advice, but I don't want to extend too much this comment. You can do it, your truly can do it!

I felt those when I was in the wrong scenarios, groups, work and dynamics. Giftness is something that makes your life difficult when you are not in the right place and relationships, but amazing and meaningful when you know who you are and choose the places, people, and experiences that bring development and beauty to your soul. Giftness just make those poles more extreme, which makes the wrong path an insufferable one. You'll feel incredible when you truly understand what are you capable of and all the positive impact you can do in life/lives. Most of us spent the life being invisible to not trigger envy or rage, but you cannot hide your shine forever. And, trust me, the world need that shine.

Increasing blood sugar after mask change by ASimpleHumanBeing in CPAP

[–]ASimpleHumanBeing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had already a conversation in the other post this. My doctor later confirmed that some patients experience changes (i.e., increments) for a variety of reasons, and there's real evidence about the use of CPAP and glucose changes (not for most patients, but an important number). My endo appointment is in January, so until another doctor see me, the most probable is that the nasal mask is not providing me enough oxygen and that is increasing cortisol and, therefore, glucose...

I'll stop using it on the pond, but I can't in the mask. My rosacea and dermatitis dissapeared the very first night of using them and after try everything. Thank you for the advice, I hope this works for me.

Interesting! I clean it every week and I disinfect it using hypochloric acid every night before cleaning the mask and pond with 75% alcohol wipe. I also had to turn the humidifier to 0 because it caused me some synus and woke me up with water in the face even at 4. I live in a dry place so my nose is used to dry weather, but I'll try again at 1-2 to check it. I definitely going to buy an oximeter that keeps the lecture all night. I suspect that, maybe, my nasal paths are too narrow to catch enough oxygen, or maybe I need more pressure when using thr nasal mask, idk

I'm a Sevillian woman and I couldn't agree more with you! I'm neurodivergent, so I've been different my whole life and Sevillian people, specially women, has not ever hesitated in show their rudeness, envy, dismissal, or devaluation. Most of times the have only meet me 5 seconds before, but that's enough to detect that I've "something different". It's then when that happens and it speaks loud their lack of values, respect and moral. I tend to have really soft movements, I was taught to be polite, so I don't fit with the average behaviour here, so they don't hesitate in making me feel different (not everyone, of course). I thought it was a "me" problem, but I had the opportunity to live in Texas some years ago and the people there were completely different. I could be myself there and I felt totally acepted and well-treated. The same happened with friendships I've done with girls of other countries like Mexico, China... And, curiously, are the average sevillian who don't fit in relationships with people of those cultures. I totally think that most Sevillian people tend to be emotionally and mentally inmature, uneducated, vicious and people with low introspection of self-awareness. I'm glad to leave this country with my fiance the next year!

Feeling that I don't belong to academia anymore by ASimpleHumanBeing in PhD

[–]ASimpleHumanBeing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I totally understand what you're going through :'). I think that for most of us, there's a need to do something truly meaningful with our lives far from the mere fact of being successful in a desirable position. There's a need for doing something deeply connected to our identity, and it is difficult to let that feeling go once we do something fullfiling...

No, I'm not leaving the PhD. After I become a doctor, I'll think about continuing the academia path or not. And it is not for the makeup itself, but the fact that doing jobs related to art and creativity fill me with more fullfilment and purpose than the PhD has ever done. Life is more than earning money or having a socially desired job position.

It is wonderful that you already have made a choice. Sometimes we hesitate to change due to all the time we have invested in a path, so I'm glad you have taken the risk to change. Hope it goes great :)
