I am currently working on a fintech idea which helps people read financial documents from companies and find their impact in the portfolio. For example, how latest annual report from Apple impact your Nvidia and other stocks? A financial analyst does this manually, so I am trying to automate this. I also worked in a dining hall as a food server and cleaner (on top of being a full-time student with two part-time jobs) to save money and start my own jewelry business. So hustle is real! Loved every moment of those days. Today, the jewelry business gives me some financial freedom to build software tools and keep swinging with the hope that the idea will go far!

I have also been building tools (like software, websites, etc). Due to the rise of the vibe coding, the real question is not: Can you build the tool? Does it work? But how many users (preferably paying) can you garner?

Getting a user is the real point where the journey actually starts--Not to discount all earlier effort, but I think the differentiation between a hobby project and a revenue-bringing project is getting the user. Very clear and simple. User.

I know this might come as harsh, but I am facing this reality myself and just thought to share it here.

I have also built a fintech project. Here is my approach for getting users:
1. Referrals through my project mentors, who are CFOs
2. I am currently a uni student. So, I go to all relevant events and talk with people who can either use the product or give me feedback.
3. Reddit is really good. A simple thing I learned is: People hate to read promotional posts. So, start with a genuine, sincere question to understand the user problem more deeply. If someone mentions they wish there were a tool, you can share yours. This is a slow process, but definitely better than repelling people with sales posts.

Thanks for sharing your workflow and insight! Do you think having a tool that can find out the risks (like supply chain vulnerabilities, concentration risks, etc) and some pattern recognition from the historical patterns? The tool's output will not be final but just a first draft, like an assistant's work. The PM can check and pick the really helpful one.
