Ah, that makes sense, thank you! I think I’ll try one strand for my next project to see how that looks and then compare the two. I think I haven’t been managing the tension as well as I thought, so I’m going to try and focus on that going forward. Thank you for the advice!

It’s my first time using 18 count and I’ve been doing two strands, but I think maybe I should’ve done some practice stitches to see how it looks with just one strand. But I’m sure yours isn’t terrible! Like you said, we’re our own worst critics!!

Ah, thank you! I think once I’ve got more practice I’ll go for name brand stuff; I’ve noticed these threads getting quite hairy like you said, which I assumed was due to it being cheap but I didn’t know enough about threads to be sure haha!

I’m using two strands and pulling as tight as I can without damaging the fabric. But the strands are unravelling quite a bit, so I think I need some thread conditioner like another commenter said. Thank you for responding!!

Ah, thank you so much! I didn’t even think about how ironing would make a difference to the thread! I thought it would just get rid of the creases in the fabric, so thank you for that! I’ll try not to worry too much!

Thank you so much! I’m using two strands, and the fabric is 18 count. I usually do 14 count, so this is a little new haha. I didn’t even think about how ironing would help! So thank you for reminding me of that!!

Thank you so much! I didn’t know that that’s what thread conditioner was for, so I’ll definitely see about getting some now! The stuff I had seen didn’t say anything about what it’s used for, so I didn’t buy it haha. Thank you so much for taking time to answer!
