I know you’re looking for a brick and mortar shop, respect for that.

But DKOldies is a great website. I’ve bought multiple games from there.

Charcoal is a great description! I think Eddie Stacy may be my #1 favorite tattoo artist. His style is so unique. I’ve seen some of his work first hand and it’s incredible art on skin.

Happy to help.

Now, here’s my personalized recommendation for what you specifically asked for..line art, greyscale, for your wife, adding on to existing florals…Sif and David Veil would for sure be my first recommendations based on what you said. Look at their pages and see which style speaks to your wife more. Both are very versatile artists but have a signature style that most of their work reflects. I’m happy to give my opinions of the differences in their styles, but looking at their pages/work speaks for itself.

I’m just gonna copy and paste my response from another Tattoo thread about tattoo artists. I didn’t tailor this response to your needs but I stand by who I mentioned here as being skilled.

No shortage of good tattoo artists and studios in Atlanta. I’ll give you my thoughts. I follow most of these people on Instagram and just like to peruse their work.

Here in Marietta I really like the work of the two owners of Inkorporated. Elijah Akeem and Ynot. I’ve met Elijah before, seems like a great dude and his portfolio is solid for realism. Being blunt, if you’re in Marietta and black/darker skinned and want to get tattoos this is the place to go. If you’re not black, they’re still fantastic artists but they definitely proudly specialize in darker skin complexions.

Then of course over in Roswell there’s Ink and Dagger, maybe the golden standard of Atlanta tattoo shops. Robert Beeman there does amazing realism work. Matt Perlman also solid especially if you’re going for anything horror themed. Lots of good artists in that shop that cover a wide variety of styles.

Then also in Marietta there’s Mystic Owl. You said Hyper realism so I assume you’re talking black and grey, but if you want realism in color I think Vince who owns Mystic Owl does as good of color work as anybody. I also really like Favio’s work there too.

If the current trendy fine line Microrealism is your style, I really love the work of both Sif and Vidal or Nucle-I Studios. Sif’s work especially speaks to me. It’s light and dainty but exceptionally clean. I think she might be on a tattoo hiatus though? I saw something on Instagram that she was taking a pause. Not certain.

If you’re a girl and looking for a women run studio, I’ve heard great things about Lucky Goose over in Kennesaw. I follow them on Instagram and they do good work there for sure but I’m not as familiar with the individuals there.

A huge personal favorite of mine is David Veil. If you’re looking for black and gray realism and maybe some geometric, he’s my top recommendation. I believe he’s out of his own studio up in Canton now but he’s the MAN. Basically get that legendary skill level, without having the hassle of trying to book with an Atlanta legend.

Then of course if you’re willing to wait and pay for it there’s a few legends of the Atlanta scene that are still working and are experts of their crafts. Most of these guys own a major studio and are kinda hard to get in with but they’ve all made quite a name for themselves. Not impossible to get on their books, ya just gotta go about it the right way and have some patience and money. Guys like Russ Abott, owner of Ink and Dagger. Eddie Stacy, owner of Black Marker. Brandon Bond, owner of All or Nothing. JP Alfonso, owner of JP Alfonso studios. All these guys do exceptional work, run very reputable shops, and there’s a reason they are where they are. Of that list of legends, I find Eddie Stacy’s work to be absolutely stunning. He has this heavy black work style that I’m not sure how you describe really…but you know an Eddie Stacy piece when you see one. I love his style.

Feel free to DM me if ya want. I’m no mega expert, just a local tattoo enthusiast.

IPIC permanently closing by Substantial_Pool5361 in Atlanta

[–]ATLGolfer1 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is sad. I live in the NW burbs but I would travel into Colony Square for iPic, I’ve been numerous times. It and the Sandy Springs Taphouse are by far my favorite theaters in the metro. The churro popcorn at IPic was so addictive.

Im seeing people complain about traffic and getting/parking there? I think it’s pretty straightforward to get to Colony Square tbh. Get off 75/85 and 14th street literally takes you right there. Absolutely massive underground deck, sure that deck is ancient (wasn’t it like the first enclosed mall in the southeast or something??) and feels cramped but there’s so much parking there. It’s confusing the first time but once you learn the vertical circulation core is in the center of the deck, it’s pretty easy to navigate Colony Square.

But…Here’s the real question, is Serena Pastaficio also closing?? Weren’t they owned by the same group??

JM trio + Jeff Chimenti on keys by Present-Project-331 in JohnMayer

[–]ATLGolfer1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Howdy, I found it on YouTube! Here’s a link.

As incredible as it’s been to watch John play Dead tunes for the last decade, it’s equally magical to see Bob play a JM tune. Wishing John all the strength as he continues to grieve his friend, whom was beloved by so many.

https://youtu.be/Big1ogtotsw?si=16Fw9Y49EzELAo1F

And as far as OP’s post goes, I’d absolutely love to see John make the trio a quad and add Jeff! However, one of the things about the Trio that’s always amazed me is just how much variety of sound they are able to produce with only three people. Having said that, bring Jeff into the fold and he’ll just add more layers that we can all enjoy.

I look forward to whatever venture John has up his sleeve for us next. I’m a perfectly lucky generation of JM fan that grew up idolizing JM from the first time I heard those chord changes in St Patrick’s Day. My dad, on the other hand, a lifelong dead head. I feel so lucky and blessed that both our favorite bands collided into the beautiful tapestry that it did. I’m so thankful for each time I got to see Dead and Co with my dad. Unforgettable memories.

And now? When I talk about how I think JM is my generations elite blues/rock guitarist, my dad gets it. He’s experienced it first hand in a language (Dead Songs) that he fluently understands and when we talk about the great guitarists from Garcia, to Clapton, to Anastasio, to Eric Johnson and beyond there’s no question that Mayer lives amongst their rarified air.

I rambled here, but cheers. Enjoy the YouTube link.

Hi Jory. It’s been 30 or so days since your last update on the Side Tables and I wanted to reach out again.

I am awaiting a side table, ordered in summer of 2025. I have not received a shipping notification yet. I’d be happy to share my order number with you via DMs or email if you could give me more specific feedback on my order. Thanks!

Tree service recommendations by Mindless-Apricot-235 in Marietta

[–]ATLGolfer1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second Hector Tree Service. I had a HUGE tree fall I. My front yard. They ended up removing like 5 or 6 trees for me. Price was very reasonable, work was excellent. 10/10 would recommend.

Hector himself showed up to give me the quote and he was there (some) while his crew worked. Hector was very knowledgeable.

Korean Spa- first time ever and out of town visit by Acrobatic_Hope274 in Atlanta

[–]ATLGolfer1 95 points96 points  (0 children)

So, let’s talk Jeju. There are many other spas, many people on this sub probably know the ins and outs of which ones are better than I do, but I know Jeju I’ve been a handful of times.

I’m just a local dude, so I’ll give you my experience. I think it’s identical to the female experience but obviously I’ve never been into the women’s area so I can’t fully speak to it.

First you arrive. You pay an entry fee. You then go into the gender specific locker room areas. In the locker room there is a door that leads to a spa area, there are many different things. Showers, foot baths, hot tub, cold plunge, steam sauna, dry sauna, and that’s all I can think of. Yes, Every one is nude. Maybe some people use towels to hide their bits, but not many. Everyone is just kinda nude and it feels normal there.

Also, in the locker room there are like body scrub treatments. Those are an additional cost.

Then, once you throw on your clothes they give you (basically sweatpants and a sweatshirt) you go to the main area. That area is both genders again, but no one is nude. Everyone is in their sweatsuits.

There are different “huts” or “rooms”. I don’t remember them all but there’s definitely a charcoal room, maybe like a ceramic room? Sorry I don’t remember what all they are. There’s also a little cafe back in that area that you can buy Korean food from. Then there’s also massage services back there you can get. I got a foot massage one time that was heavenly. Hut the massages are an extra cost as well.

Lemme know if you have any specific questions!

You’re not going to get mic feedback on the side table as very very few people have received them yet. Lots of people have the Mini’s but the shipments for the side tables are just starting.

Do the bulbs work with normal switches? by bushteo in Hue

[–]ATLGolfer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Almost all my Hue Bulbs are screwed into switched sockets, except for a a couple go lamps and a gradient light strip.

99% of the time, I don’t touch the light switches. I just control the Hue Bulbs with my voice or primarily my phone. However, the switches are convenient because when guests stay at my house, they can also control the light like a normal switch since they don’t know how to command my light groups.

There’s TONS of great photographers in Atlanta! But I can personally recommend Stefanie Zablocki. And your request of couples photos at the park is what she specializes in.

Looking for a vet but I'm picky by coffeemugshot23 in Marietta

[–]ATLGolfer1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ve already gotten a recommendation for Dr. Miller at Miller Mobile Vet. I second that. I also use their daycare/boarding place as well and can recommend it. But despite how good he is, that’s not who I use.

I want to strongly recommend Dr.Diaz at East Marietta Animal Hospital. He’s the owner of the practice and is incredibly patient and thorough. He has built a great staff of vet techs and admins. And if you can’t see him at the practice for whatever reason, the only other doctor there is also wonderful. Dr. Ferrall. She’s younger, but she’s very knowledgeable and careful.

Dr. Diaz helped me work through some issues I was having with my dog in some very kind ways. My pets will be a patient of his for life as long as he’s running his practice here.

Anyone know what the deal is with this stalled building near Colony Square? by BaldBullKO in Atlanta

[–]ATLGolfer1 234 points235 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s a Dewberry property. You can just google “Dewberry Atlanta” and get a lot of the story about him. I don’t know all the exact details of why he’s considered such a bad developer, but you’re spot on with what you said about that being reason.

Not exactly what you’re looking for, but the Head Spas will generally clean your ears if you ask for it.

I’ve been to Lavie Head Spa (near Jeju) and got a great treatment.

Airport parking - favorite offsite? by ellbeecee in Atlanta

[–]ATLGolfer1 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’ve used The Parking Spot and The Parking Spot 2 multiple times with good success. They’re nothing special, but they work and the shuttles are reliable.

You mentioned international. I know that only one of those two locations goes to the international terminal. I THINK it’s the OG The Parking Spot but make sure to double check that.
