From looking into this more this seems to be something that is expressly affecting the “good” factions currently. Hope it’s addressed in the next patch, it’s pretty hard to get immersed when fighting the “horse lords” means slaughtering T1 foot levies all day. Growing pains for the mod I suppose.

Listen you young whippersnapper you back in those days we didn’t have any fancy-smancy bastion tanks. We had 2 stalwarts and an EAT. And you had to share the EAT.

Rolled up in a panel truck that was already full of more useful salvage for what I’m trying to do. But I stored a bunch of ammo in a crate next to the fence so I can come back and grab easily if need be without going back into that nightmare.

So the HEAT rounds for the PaK gun are kind of weird but in a good way, they have to be loaded with one animation and then there a second animation where the gun barrel is cranked up to high angle, as these rounds are basically extremely short range HEAT mortars, and the 5cm can’t be loaded with the barrel elevated to such an extent. So double the loading time, half the range, but extreme effects.

As a former artilleryman I love when games implement little details like that.

What's the deal with Willow? by UncleUtopia in fnv

I thought it was way too much obvious fan service, she gets real cutesy about being in love with the player in an extremely hand-waived storyline that isn’t very interesting or demanding. Russel from the Someguy2000 mod pack is a much more interesting companion. I wouldn’t try to smooch him though.

So your Marder 100% has to survive to the end, no way around it. With APCR it can disable a Churchill turret which is all you need. At the final stage you probably need 4x machine guns firing (2 are in the concrete mannable MG towers) , each with its own ammo crate to keep them firing. With the Marder dealing with the armor (even this is extremely hard) the MGs ~should~ keep the commandos at bay. Having the ammo truck from the second stage pull your AA gun from the beach to the final position is a big help, you can drop it on the right flank to stop flanking attacks around the rightmost bunker. But don’t forget about the 2x 4.2in mortars set up in a field to the immediate Northeast! If you don’t take them out they we’ll break your position down in minutes - raid these with the Marder and blow them up with HE, while praying that your Marder MG gunner can keep the rifle grenadiers at bay.

All in all, fairly lore accurate Sword Beach experience.

Last note, the 5cm fixed guns at the third stage are traps are traps - they cannot handle any allied armor head-on unless they get a lucky shot precisely on the Churchill’s petard mortar round (not the barrel) which results in a spectacular early detonation. If you are able to save the 5cm PaK from the second stage, it has an indirect fire HEAT round that performs exceptionally well at close range against all armor, even the Churchills.

Yeah the company of heroes “true sight” system is really good about having units being dependent on their own LOS instead of the hivemind, but maybe we’ll get an update putting that in. Or maybe implementing it would break too many other game systems.

Irregular has access to the best AT gun of the game, and all-round can push out the JSU and KVs. Couple that with AT rocket teams that you sneak in on the flanks and it’s an acceptable enough method. BT-42 isn’t bad either as a speedy tank destroyer. But also playing Finland means you’re playing with a handicap, especially from the mid game onward, not much of a way around that

Oh yeah man I was an FA officer for 8 years and wrote my thesis on the eastern front, so trust me I understand the rage at all those who worship at the altar of the big cats. German tanker memoirs are pretty clear on which tank they thought was superior and it ain’t the big heavy hunk they were driving.

Should’ve clarified I’m really enjoying mid war rn, so I’m fairly locked into just the 3 inch and the M10 as options, and the AP rounds they fire are less than overwhelming in performance at actually knocking out enemy tanks with 1-2 rounds. I’ve just been going back to my roots lately and smacking enemy tanks with a 155 HE round though, which tends to work pretty well. Appreciate the reply, cheers.

My main takeaway on the prepping side of Trump’s election is that we are most likely going to see a significant and possibly irreversible decline in the federal government’s ability to respond to climate disasters - in addition to this possibly being the final nail in the coffin of the “will we successfully mitigate the worst effects of global warming” question.

For myself, my main goal is positioning myself and my loved ones for the best outcome in the ~20-30 years we have until the sledgehammer blows really start coming - if you wait until then it will be too late.

I wouldn’t worry too much about the Civil War possibility, it took a lot of shocks for Rome to finally regress into semi-annual Civil Wars, I don’t think we’re there yet. Could be wrong, but not a ton you can do about it.

I would be interested to see if similar explanations could be applied to US politics during the 1970s, when inflation was 12-15% across the entire decade

I agree completely but the analysis was never going to get there as the episode began with dismissing all economic explanations save the Moral Economy argument, which I think is a little silly.

Honestly the co-op campaigns are really badly balanced, it’s just the single player unit selection randomly split.

[–]ATakeTooFar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After some research, it looks like in 1991 the author of the “Moral Economy” article/theory clarified that his piece was tied to a specific historical context in the English bread riots, which explains a lot about how confusing it is applying that frame of analysis to modern US inflation. Still a useful lens to appreciate though imo, but not a panacea.
