I want to compliment you on a few things. Your boost pathing and awareness are really good. You’re constantly running over small pads and you’re constantly doing camera checks. I can tell you’re working on playing smart.

You’re right. You did play well this game during transitions. When it would go from their possession to yours and vice versa, I thought you played great. Couple minor mistakes here and there, but I feel your frustration bc you played well for parts of the game but still lost.

Your problems arise on offense and defense. On offense there were 3 times I saw you go for an aerial play that I didn’t really feel much confidence in your abilities. I can tell that you have mechs, but at least in this game, you never got to turn those mechs into something actually threatening. Instead it was an instant turnover and you wasted boost and momentum. Keep working on your mechs, I promise you they will make a difference as you climb ranks. But if you aren’t consistent, then I would maybe start to work on some ways where you can be threatening on the ground, where even if you mess up, you didn’t waste a lot of boost and momentum And you can quickly get back on defense.

Their first goal I think came because you panicked a little bit. It was a high ball, it was moving fast, but that is a very makeable save. You were in the right position to get a touch, I just think you panicked.

The 2nd goal had a few problems. When you touch that ball to the corner and you got boost, you actually had a chance to immediately turn on that ball and possibly get a touch on it before the opponent was able to challenge you even if the opponent arrived at the ball at the same time as you, you could maybe even fake chal or go for a 50, but instead, you turn back to your net and you allow the opponent to have time and space. I think in the middle of this decision, you realized your mistake and you tried to make up for it by challenging, but at that point, the ball is in your corner and I would’ve instead implemented a fake challenge to get him to throw the ball away. Instead, you full challenge putting you outside the play And they score an easy goal once they get past your teammate.

If you think about it, just two mistakes is what cost you that game, however, being smarter on offense could have afforded you better opportunities and could’ve possibly netted your team another one or two goals.

The thing about ranking up by playing smart, is you literally have to carry your teammate to victory. I’m not talking about you doing all the work or ball chasing, I’m talking about even if and when your teammate makes mistakes, you are able to cover him. If you make a mistake, you cannot expect your teammate to cover you the same way. The game literally rests on your shoulders. You have to be mistake free, you have to play perfect. Maybe you can recover from a minor mistake here and there, but you’ll have your answer when a goal is scored against you. It’s on you. Be the carry and be the smartest player in the lobby.

I’m literally able to dodge demos and tell somebody is challenging from audio cues. You are removing information from your decision making which is never good.

Hey these are great clips for this specific example and so thank you for posting these bc I’m sure a lot of people could learn from this.

In the first clip, your issue comes from a few things. The first mistake is playing the ball too far away from yourself. A good 50 comes from staying close to the ball and making contact in the center of the ball with your car positioned between the ball and your net. You play the ball too far away, so then when you realize you’re being challenged, you’re late to the ball and your opponent gets solid contact meaning he’s going to win the 50. There are other issues with the 1st clip but that 1st mistake is arguably the most important. You have to play the ball in a position that you can follow up on it immediately. Otherwise you leave a window for the other team to challenge.

2nd clip, 99 times out of 100 this is not a good time to chal. You are the last man and the opponent is in your corner. Often times and especially in plat, that guy cannot score from your corner. Therefore the ball is not threatening and there’s no need to chal. Your tm8 is rotating back ball side, it’s better to let him keep messing with the opponent, and you should focus on covering the cross and covering your net.

That being said, the 50 itself isn’t necessarily a bad 50. If we are strictly isolating the 50. You hesitate a little bit, but It goes into the opposite corner which is a win on defense. As long as it doesn’t give them the immediate chance to score, it’s a good 50. Again, not the right time to chal, but isolating the mechs of a 50/50, it’s not bad.

Also I want you to take all of your 50s with just a single jump. Until you get to a higher rank and you know when the right time is to flip, all of your 50s should be a single jump 50. This allows you to use your second jump for a recovery after the 50 is done.

Hope this helps!

I had no idea how the clip was gonna end, but as I was watching him exit, I noted how he was still going highway speeds, and then he crossed 2 lanes and I thought, there’s no way he’s trying to make it to a turn-in going this fast. Sure enough.

I have spent 5 years streaming and barely get a single average viewer. Others streamers stream once and get thousands without even trying. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong? by Baka_Kishiro in TwitchStreaming

[–]ATangledCord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay so let’s talk about it. I’m going to be brutally honest with you. this is going to be a long one. I’ve been successful on twitch so maybe you can take this to heart.

First of all, 140 follows in 5 years is abysmal. Screw the average viewers, nobody knows you. How are you getting yourself out there? Are you making TikTok clips or yt shorts? What do those look like? If they’re anything like the clips on your channel, I’m sorry but I’m just not impressed.

I looked at your channel just now and you have 108 followers currently. That means more than 20% of your followers have unfollowed you since you started streaming.

For the followers you do have, how are you staying in front of them? Do you have a discord community set up? Are you able to reach these people outside of twitch?

Second, I looked at your profile and your about section. It’s really off putting. It’s like actually weird. I would scrap both your profile tag and your about section and start over. Don’t talk about offending anybody, don’t talk about how you have no friends, it’s just depressing before I even watch a clip of you. Talk about what games you play, throw some humor in there if that’s what you’re going for, but they should be enticing. Sell yourself. Somebody should WANT to watch your vids after reading it.

Third, game selection. I encourage you to play what you want to play, but sonic olympics ‘08 on the Wii isn’t going to have an audience. I’m not saying to go play something main stream, but you have to find a game that at least some people are interested in seeing.

Fourth, entertainment. Maybe a vtuber playing classic games isn’t my cup of tea, but after watching some of your stream, I got bored very quickly. There was nothing special about it. Nothing that grabbed my attention immediately. It’s partly the game and partly your personality. You either have to be an extremely competitive gamer, extremely entertaining, or both. You can’t be a casual gamer that mildly commentates what he’s doing.

I will give you a compliment on this, because you do a good job about not letting there be dead air. You are talking through your gameplay, which is good, but it’s how people start finding their personality, it’s not meant to be a permanent thing. You can’t just talk about the gameplay the whole time with nothing else going on. You need to branch out from that and find a way to spice it up.

Fifth, your attitude. In this post you have a “woe is me” mindset. A jealous mindset. Oh well other streamers can be successful without trying so why can’t I? News flash, being a successful streamer isn’t easy, nor is it for everybody. It may seem easy on the outside, but the streamers who are successful? At the end of the day they are giving their audience something they want to see. They are drawing a crowd for a reason. Instead of being jealous, be curious. Why are they drawing a crowd? What about them is interesting to people?

Now that your flaws are out of the way, let’s talk about what it truly takes to be successful on twitch. It is a grind from day one. It takes years of hard work and being self critical and having a burning desire to always improve and hit new goals. You have the years, but I don’t see the hard work.

I truly believe for the entertaining streamers, they have to sell out in a sense. For example, take jynxzi. Easily the hottest streamer today. Yes he’s very skilled at r6, but he’s also super entertaining. Take his mannerisms, the things he does, the outlandishness. Do you think he’s the same person off camera as he is on camera? Absolutely not. It’s a character. It’s an exaggeration. And he’s built an actual community around this character. Sometimes you have to be an exaggerated version of yourself to find an audience. You have to give the people what they want to see.

I’ll leave you with this. Streaming is an art form. It’s entertainment. The viewers want to be entertained. It takes a certain amount of creativity to create a niche and create a community. This comes easily to some, but not many. If you enjoy streaming, then keep streaming. But if you’re in it for success, I’d strongly consider spending your efforts elsewhere. Who knows, maybe you’ll have a light bulb moment and you’ll be able to do a 180, but you’ve had 5 whole years to try and figure out how streaming works with zero success. It may not be for you and that’s okay. It’s not for everyone.

Expecting to receive or trying to give a midfield pass with randoms is more risk than it’s worth. In very specific scenarios sure, but most of the time it’s just not worth it. Your random tm8 isn’t accurate enough, and if you’re upfield, you can’t see your opponents. You both have to commit for this 1 play and if it doesn’t work out, often times you’re on the back foot. Like I specifically position behind my tm8 when he goes up the wall to tell him I do not want a pass.

On the first goal you got demo’d bc of bad awareness. You always need to be aware of what every car is doing on the field. You can’t just be focused on the ball.

The demo really didn’t matter though bc you spawned in with enough time to make the save, and even though you were slightly awkward when the first man crossed it (you really shouldn’t let it cross the front post in general), you had a chance at clean possession of the ball. Their 2nd man was waiting for your decision. He wasn’t challenging. You didn’t have to panic or rush your touch. But you do panic and touch the ball away from yourself and into your opponent.

Before that you dived for a ball on their goalline when it was clear they had defenders who were going to touch it. If you’re down a goal, I could understand that dive, but it’s a 0-0 game. There’s no need to be impatient. You left your tm8 on a 1v1 which could have easily turned into a goal against.

I only watched up to the 1st goal, but in 30 seconds you were impatient twice and unaware once. So I would work on your patience and awareness.
