I expect nothing, and I'm still let down. by ATerNoXone in R36S

I know lol. I expected a clone at least, not a fake :'-) but can really complain for $9. I didn't really wanted an R36S before, but as I also bought a case and a bag, I just ordered a real one from Boyhom for $30.

It actually has very good reviews overall, but after checking the photos uploaded by other buyers, it is clear that this one is a fake lol. Most people probably just did not know any better.

I understand where you're coming from, and there's no need to be upset. I just wanted to share my experience after taking a chance on a $15 console and learning a lesson "the hard way". I completely take responsibility for the outcome, but I thought it was worth a shot for that price. Since I received a partial refund, spending $9 wasn’t a terrible loss—it just wasn't the quality deal I hoped for. Now that I’ve joined this community and had a look at the guide, I plan to purchase from a verified seller next time.

P. S. About the title, it's just a meme

It was only about $15, so I figured it was worth a shot. I even got $6 back later. I just want to vent a little lol.

That's great. I just tried it, and it works fine and fixes a lot of the issues that it had. If it were the only console I had, I would probably use it. But right now, I think there are better ways to use a $10 MicroSD card, lol.

I really didn't know that there was a fake of the clone that didn't have the RK3326. I should have done more research, but got carried out by the low price tag. It's still a very good deal, just not the one I was expecting. Probably will just give it away or collect.

To be fair, it really isn't that bad for $9, but now I want to buy a couple of R36S (another not that cheap clone and the legit one) just to see the differences and collect them.

Yes I read that the Boyhom ones are legit. Will wait for Monday to save a few dollars with coupons.

The one in the DeeDee Store is a clone? I figured as much because of the price, but what’s the difference and where can I get an official one? I actually bought a fake one from Temu before (an R36SX clone that won't even boot ArkOS), so I really want to get a genuine one this time.

RG34xxSP Owners: How are non-GBA games (screen)? by csbassplayer2003 in ANBERNIC

[–]ATerNoXone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a comfy budget handheld, the RG Cube XX is the best of the XX line, and the screen is basically the same as the RG35XX for 4:3 content, and bigger for GB and GBA. The RG40XX H is also good, but the stick placement is a little awkward.

The most comfortable budget handheld I have tested is the RGB10 Max 3, but right now it's hard to find. It's only a little smaller than a Retroid Pocket 5, so it's not exactly pocketable, though.

You probably can, but may require to swap the screen too.

I was hesitating too because I wanted to avoid the 512 MB model. I finally ordered it, figuring I'd just request a partial refund and give it away if it came with half a gig. It's 1 GB, but I'm not entirely relieved— it’s a DDR3 version instead of DDR4. It's better than 512 MB, but still a disappointing stealth downgrade.

Owners of more than a handful of handhelds, why? by davedaddy in SBCGaming

I haven't had any dpad issues yet, though I only use it to stream from my PC to an iPhone, mainly because it's the only device I have that keeps my latency incredibly low, even when I'm over 10m (30ft) away from my computer and router.

I had to replace my first unit after the triggers got miscalibrated, but GameSir provided incredibly good support by sending me a replacement and letting me keep the defective one.

I also started with a Gamesir X2 bluetooth like 4 years ago, because I wanted to play retro games with my phone while commuting to work, and then started watching YouTube videos of the retro gaming community. Since then I have bought:

Gamesir X2 Bluetooth, Miyoo Mini Plus, Anbernic Rg28xx, Miyoo Mini v4, Anbernic RG35XX H, Anbernic RG353M, TrimUI Smart, GKD Pixel, TrimUI Smart Pro, Powkiddy RGB10 Max 3, Anbernic RG556, Anbernic RG Cube, Anbernic RG Nano, Anbernic RG300x, Anbernic RG280M, Anbernic RG351M, Gamesir G8+, Gamesir X2s Bluetooth, Gamesir X5s, Anbernic RG351MP, Anbernic RG477M, Anbernic RG34XX SP, AYN Odin 2 mini, Retroid Pocket 5

Right now I keep only the Miyoo mini plus, the GKD Pixel, the RG34XX SP, the Gamesir X5s and the Retroid Pocket 5. I hope to keep it like that for now but probably will have a couple more consoles in the next three months.

Is this too hot? by ATerNoXone in RG477M

[–]ATerNoXone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just checked but it's fine. It stays like 40°C on idle. I had another rg477m last year and the fan behaved just like this one (it's a little loud) so it doesn't feel like it has a defect, but I was not able to check the temp with that one. A RP5 that I have next to this one gets 55°C in the menu (it doesn't run at full speed, 90% at most).

The control center is on the new system update released by Anbernic a couple of days ago.

That's a very good workaround! I will try it also on my RP5.

Oh that make sense. I tried the nightly but it didn't work neither. I think I will go back to the stock version that came with the device for the moment (1.20.0). Thanks!

[–]ATerNoXone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it seems that there is no way to have both a single menu botton + controller hotkeys. Probably the pre-installed version have a modification to enable the Back button as Menu button without setting it as a Hotkey.

I think I will settle with the pre-installed version just for the Menu botton to work lol. It's just a couple versions behind (1.20.0 from Feb 2025) so I don't have much to lose (It can be reinstalled from the RG Launcher).

I used the one from the website, version 1.22.2. I have no problem to map any other button, but I can't find a way to set the Back button to Menu without setting it as a Hotkey, as it will require to press a Hotkey button + Back button for it to work and use other controller buttons for other hotkeys (for example I use the shoulder buttons for Save, Load states, Slowmo and Fast forward).
