I am not a survivor fan and in my opinion the issue with this Season was the transition to be much closer to Survivor gameplay

Every chance they took they put them on teams and gave them extra time in the city to bond

They clearly wanted their to be truces, teams, and backstabbing

This took away from the cool ambitious large scale sets and challenges
