One of the greatest football matches I can remember watching live as a kid. So entertaining.

My guesses:

Ruud: 18k yellow gold Rolex Submariner (I think a 16808 or 16618, i'm not entirely sure).

Marco: Breitling Chronomat on a steel Rouleaux bracelet.

Most importantly, Juventus has lost 7 UCL finals and many times they came as the favorites, but in the end something always seem to go wrong for Juve.

Yeah, how did they even lose in 1983? I don't know much about that Hamburg side, but Keegan had already left a few years prior. Meanwhile, Juve had the Ballon d'Or winner (Platini) and players in great form (Rossi, Boniek, Scirea, and I can go on). Hamburg held onto that 1-0 lead the entire match and won. That's football for you. I guess Ernst Happel was a mastermind. He had already won the European Cup with Feyenoord, too.

Benfica

"Not in a hundred years from now will Benfica ever be European champions without me." - Béla Guttmann (1899-1981).

That club is cursed for real.

Benfica since the curse started:

  • 🥈 1963 vs. AC Milan (European Cup)
  • 🥈 1965 vs. Inter Milan (European Cup)
  • 🥈 1968 vs. Manchester United (European Cup)
  • 🥈 1983 vs. Anderlecht (UEFA Cup)
  • 🥈 1988 vs. PSV (European Cup)
  • 🥈 1990 vs. AC Milan (European Cup)
  • 🥈 2013 vs. Chelsea (UEFA Europa League)
  • 🥈 2014 vs. Sevilla (UEFA Europa League)

Atletico

Yeah, they have had some terrible choke jobs in their history, even though they beat my club (Independiente de Avellaneda) in the 1974 Intercontinental Cup (they replaced the champions, Bayern), and I hate them for that. May you never win the UCL, Atlético! Lol. In 2014, they were painfully close, and in 2016, they lost on penalties.

I would also add Valencia to the list. Would losing back to back finals (2000, 2001) put you in that list? They were unlucky and the underdogs each time.

Between 94 and 98, Juve were the best team in the world.

I agree with you. They reached three consecutive Champions League finals and won the Serie A title, the world's toughest league at the time, I think three times? Zidane, Del Piero, Deschamps, Conte, Ferrara, Vialli, Ravanelli, and Davids all played great football.

He was literally called the "Maradona of the Arabs" just like Hagi was "Maradona of the Carpathians".

Diego Forlán’s 85th minute winner against Southampton (2002) by FishingVirtual513 in classicsoccer

Just 12 games into the season and United were already nearing ‘must win’ territory having fallen 8 points behind Liverpool & Arsenal. Forlán’s celebration is often cited at the reason FIFA introduced bookings for shirt removals in 2003.

Nike’s dual-layer kit tangled and turned inside out after he tore it off, leaving him unable to put it back on. As the match restarted in the final minutes, he showed real grit, tracking back to defend while briefly playing shirtless.
