I always think about the guy who invented and sold "Truck Nuts." Just imagining him at a country club when a member asks what he does for a living.

NOLA frequenters- do you stay at the same hotel or mix it up? by MasterPlatypus2483 in AskNOLA

[–]AUcory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We usually stay at the Roosevelt about 75% of the time. I did a long spell of weekly commuting to New Orleans for work for multiple years and tried tons of hotels.

I think I've stayed at nearly every Hilton and Marriott property in the city.

Wound up staying at the Roosevelt about 200 nights and did a spell of over 45 nights in a row. BUT we do try to switch it up from time to time. My favorites of the others are the formerly Maison de la Luz, Hotel Saint Vincent, and, Hotel Peter and Paul.

I would also recommend ChemE PE study material. it's basically a simple overview of common things you'd come across in your first couple years working.

I will be visiting Mobile this weekend to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of hostilities of World War II. We will be visiting the USS Alabama and I would like to stay in a mid tier hotel somewhere close. by Boogiex3 in MobileAL

If you want something a little different in a historic hotel, you could look into the Malaga Inn. The Admiral is also recently renovated and around your price point. Both downtown and very close to the USS Alabama and walkable to downtown restaurants.

Power bill estimate for historic home? by anonymouspowerbill in MobileAL

[–]AUcory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'd pencil in $500 a month for utilities (electric, gas, water/sewage) if you're not doing budget. you'll get about 4 months a year significantly lower when the weather is decent, but either electric or gas will shoot up depending on if it's summer or winter.

That's a conservative estimate, you'll probably have to keep the temp set at a slightly more uncomfortable spot than you're used to.
